COACHING CONNECTIONS
• 49ers special teams coordinator/assistant head coach Brad Seely
worked with Falcons defensive line coach Ray Hamilton in New England
during the 1999 season when Seely was the Patriots special
teams coach and Hamilton held the same title.
• 49ers running backs coach Tom Rathman was a running back for
the Los Angeles Raiders in 1994 while Ray Hamilton held the same
position with the Raiders.
• 49ers quarterbacks coach Geep Chryst was on the Carolina Panthers
staff with Falcons secondary coach Tim Lewis from 2007-08.
Chryst was the tight ends/offensive quality control coach and Lewis
held the same title.
• 49ers offensive line coach Mike Solari and Tim Lewis were both
on the Seattle Seahawks staff in 2009, Solari and Lewis held the
same titles.
• 49ers assistant secondary coach Greg Jackson played at LSU while
Falcons defensive coordinator Mike Nolan was the Tigers linebackers
coach in 1986. Both were also with the New York Giants in 1993
when Jackson was a defensive back and Nolan was New York’s defensive
coordinator.
• 49ers defensive line coach Jim Tomsula was on Mike Nolan’s 49ers
staff from 2007-08 holding the same title.
49ERS - GEORGIA CONNECTIONS
• Secondary coach Ed Donatell was the defensive coordinator for the
Atlanta Falcons from 2004-06.
• FB Bruce Miller is from Woodstock, GA and attended Woodstock HS.
• CB Carlos Rogers is from Augusta, GA and attended Butler HS.
FALCONS - NOR CAL CONNECTIONS
• Defensive coordinator Mike Nolan was the 49ers head coach from
2005-08 and also the linebackers/defensive backs coach at Stanford
from 1982-83.
• Offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter held the same position at San
Francisco State in 1985.
• Defensive line coach Ray Hamilton held the same position with the
Oakland Raiders from 1993-94.
• Wide receivers coach Terry Robiskie was with the Oakland Raiders
from 1982-93 in multiple capacities.
• TE Tony Gonzalez attended the University of California where he
played football and basketball.
• S Thomas DeCoud attended Pinole Valley High School in Pinole, CA
and then went on to star at the University of California.
• CB Chris Owens attended San Jose State.
