THE HEAD COACHES<br />
Mike Singletary is in his second full season as the<br />
head coach of the <strong>49ers</strong>. A two-time <strong>NFL</strong> Defensive<br />
Player of the Year (1985 &1988) and Hall of Fame Inductee<br />
(1998), Singletary played 12 seasons (1981-<br />
92) for the Chicago Bears and earned countless honors,<br />
including 10 consecutive Pro Bowl’s and eight<br />
first-team All-Pro selections. After retiring in 1993,<br />
he decided to take time away from the game to raise<br />
a family. In 2003, Singletary broke into the coaching ranks as the inside<br />
linebackers coach for the Baltimore Ravens. He then moved on to the <strong>49ers</strong><br />
in 2005, where he served as the assistant head coach and linebackers<br />
coach. A year later, he was elevated to assistant head coach/defense, a title<br />
which he held until taking over as the <strong>49ers</strong> head coach midway through the<br />
2008 season. He went on to <strong>com</strong>pile a 5-4 record that year, before leading<br />
the <strong>49ers</strong> to an 8-8 record in 2009, the team’s best finish since 2002.<br />

Tom Cable is in his 3rd season as head coach of the<br />
Raiders. Under Cable in 2009, the Raiders offense<br />
showed improvement as TE Zach Miller and rookie<br />
WR Louis Murphy each had standout seasons. Four<br />
games into the 2008 season, Cable took over the head<br />
coaching reigns from Lane Kiffin and helped lead an<br />
offense that finished 10th in the <strong>NFL</strong> in rushing. He<br />
joined Oakland in 2007 as the offensive line coach and mentored a line that<br />
helped the Raiders finish 6th in the <strong>NFL</strong> in rushing. Cable has served as the<br />
offensive line coach for the Atlanta Falcons (2006), and prior to the Falcons,<br />
was offensive coordinator/offensive line coach at UCLA (2004-05), where<br />
the Bruins averaged 420.5 yds. of total offense per game during that span.<br />
Cable’s first head coaching job came at the University of Idaho (2000-03)<br />
where the Vandals averaged 424.1 yds. of total offense per game.<br />
On Sept. 26 at Kansas City, all eight of the <strong>49ers</strong> 2010 draft selections<br />
dressed and participated in the game for the first time this season. This marked<br />
the first time since Sept. 21, 1997 against the Atlanta Falcons that all of the<br />
<strong>49ers</strong> draft picks (QB Jim Druckenmiller-D1, FB Marc Edwards-D2, TE Greg<br />
Clark-D3) played in the same regular season game.<br />
T Anthony Davis - 1st Round - 11th Overall<br />
Anthony Davis, a two-year starter at left tackle for Rutgers, was regarded as one<br />
of the top tackles in the draft. Armed with tremendous size and strength, Davis<br />
has started all five games at right tackle. Davis entered the 2010 <strong>NFL</strong> Draft after<br />
his junior season at Rutgers.<br />
G Mike Iupati - 1st Round - 17th Overall<br />
Mike Iupati (you-PAH-tee), a hard-nosed guard out of Idaho, brings attitude<br />
and toughness to the <strong>49ers</strong>. Known for his rare <strong>com</strong>bination of size and athleticism,<br />
Iupati has started all five games at left guard.<br />
S Taylor Mays - 2nd Round - 49th Overall<br />
Mays was a four-year starter at USC and is an explosive safety with great size<br />
and speed. He adds athleticism and physicality to the <strong>49ers</strong> defensive backfield,<br />
and recently took over the starting SS role vs. Atl. (10/3).<br />
LB NaVorro Bowman - 3rd Round - 91st Overall<br />
A speedy and athletic defender, NaVorro Bowman was a two-year starter for the<br />
Nittany Lions of Penn State. His versatility and toughness fit perfectly into the<br />
<strong>49ers</strong> defense. Bowman has seen action on both defense and special teams in<br />
the first five games.<br />
ROOKIE PRODUCTIVITY<br />
FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE<br />
<strong>49ers</strong> head coach Mike Singletary is one of seven current head<br />
coaches who has playing experience in the <strong>NFL</strong>. Singletary was selected<br />
by the Chicago Bears in the 2nd round of the 1981 <strong>NFL</strong> Draft with the 38th<br />
overall pick.<br />
A two-time Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year award winner<br />
(1985 & 1988), Singletary was named to the<br />
after being selected to play in a team-record 10 consecutive Pro Bowls.<br />
The former Bears defensive captain was also named first-team All-Pro<br />
eight times (1983-89; 1991), second-team All-Pro twice and All-NFC<br />
nine times.<br />
Singletary finished each of his final 11 seasons on Chicago’s defense<br />
ranked either first or second in tackles, and at the end of his career, had<br />
amassed 1,488 tackles, 885 solo tackles, 51 passes defensed, 12 fumble<br />
recoveries and seven interceptions.<br />

RB Anthony Dixon - 6th Round - 173rd Overall<br />
A strong and powerful running back from Mississippi State, Anthony Dixon brings<br />
additional toughness to the <strong>49ers</strong> backfield. Dixon has excelled in special teams<br />
in each of the first five games, and has 2 carries for 5 yds. and 1 TD on offense.<br />
TE Nate Byham - 6th Round - 182nd Overall<br />
Considered one of the best blocking tight ends in the 2010 <strong>NFL</strong> Draft, Byham<br />
provides a physical presence to the <strong>49ers</strong> tight end position. A three-year starter<br />
at Pitt, he has shown an ability to create space and knock defenders off the<br />
ball, while also serving as a reliable receiver. Byham has played in all five games<br />
and has caught 4 passes for 20 yds.<br />
WR Kyle Williams - 6th Round - 206th Overall<br />
An explosive receiver and returner, Kyle Williams served as an all-purpose<br />
threat during his four-year career at Arizona State. He adds speed and depth<br />
to the <strong>49ers</strong> receiving corps, as well as a playmaker on special teams. Williams<br />
was inactive for the first two games of the season with a toe injury, but returned<br />
to the lineup in Week 3 and served as the primary returner before being inactive<br />
due to a finger injury in Week 5.<br />
DB Phillip Adams - 7th Round - 224th Overall<br />
Armed with solid ball-hawking skills, Phillip Adams adds depth in the defensive<br />
backfield, while also contributing on special teams. He’s seen limited action on<br />
defense in four of the first five games of the season.
