The Knapton name is familiar to University of Wyoming football fans. He takes over a program in Laramie that has struggled in football lately, compiling a 7-36 record over the last five years. Johnson took fourth in the shot put at 31-5 and Torres was seventh in the long jump at 14-8. Torres also had the 10th-best time in the 200- meter dash preliminaries in 29.17 seconds. Brianne Gunderson also competed Thursday, finishing 15th in the 3,200-meter run in 15:58.27. For the Wolves, Royce Franklin advanced to the 200-meter dash finals with the fifth-best time of 24.23 seconds. Eric Fischer also competed in the 200, finishing 15th in 28.02. ACHS’ Lovato in 100-meter hurdle finals Arvada-Clearmont High School’s Shem Lovato has advanced to the Class 1A 100-meter hurdles finals as she had the sixth-best time of 18.46 seconds. Three other Lady Panthers also competed with Laurel Prusak finishing 12th in the shot put at 26- 7, Charlie McClain placing 14th in the long jump at 12-3 1/4, and Alex Jelly finishing 15th in the 200 in 31.02.
