SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES
Do not use water jet.
UNUSUAL FIRE & EXPLOSION HAZARDS
HYDRO LABEL V SERIES
As the product contains combustible organic components, fire will produce dense black smoke containing hazardous
products of combustion (see section 10). Exposure to decomposition products may be a hazard to health. Appropriate
self-contained breathing aparatus may be required. Cool closed containers exposed to fire with water spray. Do not allow
run off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses.
PROTECTIVE MEASURES IN FIRE
Wear self contained breathing apparatus.
6 ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES
PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS
Exclude non-essential personnel. Avoid inhalation of concentrated vapours/smoke Refer to protective measures listed in
sections 7 and 8.
ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS
Contain and collect spillages with non-combustible absorbetn materials e.g. sand, earth, vermiculite, diatomaceous earth
and place in a suitable container for disposal in accordance with waste regulations (see section 13). Do not allow to enter
drains, sewers or watercourses.
SPILL CLEAN UP METHODS
Clean area with a detergent- avoid the use of solvents.Collect in containers which can be sealed for disposal according to
local authority regulations If the product enters drains or sewers, immediately contact the local water company; in case of
contamination of streams, rivers or lakes, the relevant environmental agency.
7 HANDLING AND STORAGE
USAGE PRECAUTIONS
Avoid concentrations higher than the occupational exposure limits (see section 8) Unless the container is specifically
designed, never use pressure to empty: it is not a pressure vessel. Always keep containers made of the same material as
the supply container. Good housekeeping standards and regular safe removal of waste materials will minimise the risks of
spontaneous combustion and other fire hazards. Avoid spilling, skin and eye contact. Avoid inhalation of vapours and
spray mists. Avoid eating, drinking and smoking when using the product. The Manual Handling Operations Regulations
may apply to the handling of containers of this product. Refer to the guide weight indicated on the container when carrying
out assessments.
STORAGE PRECAUTIONS
Keep containers tightly closed. Non-sparking tools should be used. Althought the storage of this product is not subject to
specific statutory requirements, the principles contained in the HSE guidance note "storage of Flammable Liquids in
containers" should be observed. Observe the label precautions. Store between 5 C and 25 C in a dry, well ventillated area
away from heat, ignition and direct sunlight. No smoking. Prevent unauthorised access. Containers whcih are opened
should be properly resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. The principles contained inthe HSE guidance note:
Chemical Warehousing: The Storage of Packaged Dangerous Substances, should be observed when storing this product.
Store separately from oxidising agents and strongly alkaline and strongly acidic materials.
8 EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
ENGINEERING MEASURES
Provide adequate ventilation. Where reasonably practicable this should be achieved by the use of local exhaust ventilation
and good general extraction. If these are not sufficient to maintain concentrations of particulates and solvent vapour below
the OEL, suitable respiratory protection must be worn.
RESPIRATORY EQUIPMENT
If exposure to hazardous substances identified cannot be controlled by the provision of local exhaust ventillation and good
general extraction, suitable respiratory protective equipment should be worn.
HAND PROTECTION
HYDRO LABEL V SERIES
When skin exposure may occur, Nitrile or Teflon gloves should be used. The instrucitons and information provided by the
glove supplier on use, storage, maintenance and replacement must be followed. Replace gloves immediately when torn or
when any change in appearance (dimension, colour or flexibility) is noticed. Barrier creams may help to protect exposed
areas of skin, but are not substitutes for full physical protection. They should not be applied once exposure has occurred.
EYE PROTECTION
Eye protection designed to protect against liquid splashes should be worn, especially during wash-ups.
SKIN PROTECTION
Cotton or cotton/synthetic overalls or coveralls (long-sleeved, covering up to the gloves) are normally suitable. Grossly
contaminated clothing should be removed and the skin washed with soap and water or a proprietary skin cleaner. Do not
use solvents or thinners as skin cleaning agents. Regular inspection of users of this product is recommended. Always
wash you hands before eating, smoking or using the toilet.
