Edge ® 9M Series Strobe Lightbars

■ Models include 4, 6, 8, 10, or 12 strobe lightheads plus up to ten secondary warning, halogen or LED modules.

Mid-sized flush mounted lightbar is 4-7/8” high and just 5-1/4” deep. Build-A-Bar concept allows you to build the bar to 

meet your exact requirements with a wide range of lengths. Choose Super-LED or a combination of Strobe, Linear-LED ® , LED 

and Halogen technology. Rotators feature a dual ball bearing mechanism with a-3 year warranty and a parabolic reflector with 

state-of-the-art optic design. LED ICC Clearance lights cover front, side and rear marker light requirements set by SAE J592 

and J2042. Rear center clearance light has a third brake light option to meet SAE J1957. All LED configuration, for front and

NFPA Strobe or Super-LED Lightbars 

These lightbars meet upper zone “A” requirements of NFPA 1901 specifications. Choose from fourteen Strobe or Super-LED 

lightbar models, or two Strobe or Super-LED mini lightbars. Strobe mini lightbar has five strobe light assemblies in each. 

LED mini lightbar has four Linear Super-LED light modules. Standard lightbar lengths are 55”, 60” and 72” with optional

Responder ® Cadet Series 

Compact and lightweight, the Cadet Series fits most vehicles' dash and deck area. 

Dual speed Cadet Series operates at 110 and 180 flashes per minute (FPM) via a 

selection push-button located in the base. The field replaceable halogen lamp is 

pre-focused in a parabolic reflector for a brighter warning signal than many dashlights 

equipped with higher wattage lamps. All models include 50 lb. pull magnets*, 

8' straight power cord with cigar plug and black 1/2 dome shield. Polycarbonate 

dome is available in all five safety colors, and split dome. Options include On/Off 

base mounted switch, 1/2 color dome shield and coiled cord. Cadet meets and 

exceeds all SAE and California Title XIII requirements.

with less friction and minimal noise. Redesigned parabolic reflector increases light 

intensities with a greater optic spread. Meets and exceed SAE, California Title XIII

Combination Tailboard Lighting 

Designed for use in NFPA 1901 Specification lighting packages, the B6 Series combines 

360° warning and directional lighting in a single fixture. The B6T has several 

combinations available, a rotating halogen beacon with a lower flashing halogen, 

linear strobe, LED, or Super-LED scenelight, brake/tail/turn indicator. The new 

Super-LED B6LED has a 360° Super-LED beacon upper level and 700 Series 

Linear-LED ® directional lighthead lower level. LED design offers extremely low amp 

draw while maintaining superior light output. Super-LED beacon and 700 Series 

Linear-LED have built-in flashers providing multiple flash patterns, plus cruise light 

mode on LED beacon. Standard finish is polished aluminum, mounting is flat/permanent. 

The halogen rotating beacon features double roller ball bearing design, 

redesigned parabolic reflector. Both the beacon and the directional 700 Series halogen 

lightheads use snap-in 60 watt halogen lamps. The linear strobe, 700 Series 

with non-fluted lens produces an exceptional wide angle light pattern (Strobe lighthead 

requires a Whelen remote strobe power supply, purchased separately). 

Halogen flashing has a built-in electronic flasher. When used in pairs, B6 Series

Hide-A-Way Strobe Tubes and Systems 

Model HA239C is the smallest plug-in mounted, remote clear strobe lamp assembly available. 

Soft plug-in design is easy to install in a 1" hole inside composite style head, taillight 

assemblies. Model HA238 is a flange-mounted strobe lamp assembly for the same 

purpose, but is available in all five safety colors. Both models furnished with 6” pigtail 

with AMP Mate-N-Lok ® connectors. Optional waterproof connectors available. Front or rear 

Hide-A-Way Systems are available for Ford Crown Victoria. These systems include 2 

Hide-A Way strobe assemblies, CS225 25 watt output power supply and appropriate cable 

lengths and 20' input cable.

Hide-A-Way Super-LED ® Systems 

HALO Series Super-LED Hide-A-Way systems are a direct plug-in to replace OEM bulbs 

for the front and rear of 2006-2009 Ford Crown Victoria. Systems include lamp assemblies, 

flasher module with multiple Scan-Lock flash patterns, cabling and Deutsch ® waterresistant 

connectors. Easy to install, requires no additional holes. 

Front system includes 2 park/turn lamp assemblies available in red, blue, white or amber 

warning with built-in amber park/turn. Rear systems available in 2 or 4 light system with 

red warning and red brake/tail/turns. 

Universal LED Hideaway Systems 

Headlight, cornering or tail light systems available in two lamp, or 4 lamp single color 

systems, and includes cables and lamp driver. Requires only a tiny 3/4” hole for installation. 

New high intensity LED light source provides omni-directional light that fills the 

reflector and delivers true wide angle warning to the front and rear of the vehicle. 85 Scan-

provides low frequency tones which are better able to penetrate other vehicles, alerting drivers

The Smart Arrow Messenger displays text and symbols on a high intensity LED display which is built 

into Edge and Edge Plus lightbars. Messages can be presented in a variety of formats (fixed, flashing 

or scrolling), pre-determined with storage of up to 128 messages. Pre-programmed EMS/Fire library is 

available. The solid-state LEDs will stand up to road shock and vibration and are rated for 100,000 hours 

of operation. Smart Arrow Messenger is easy to use by scrolling through messages on the compact 

controller. Non-volatile memory assures that programming will not be lost in the event of a power failure 

or messages cannot be modified without programming software. Options include premium control head 

upgrade with key pad for “go-to” message activation. Programming software kit includes Messenger/Serial 

Communications transporter and inter-connect cables.

Saluting a hero 

More than 12 years have passed, but Lt. Tim 

McCaughey hasn't forgotten a house fire that 

could have claimed the lives of two people had it 

not been for his actions. 

"It's not very often that you're able to rescue one 

person, but two ... ," said McCaughey, a 23-year 

veteran of the Eau Claire Fire Department. 

McCaughey, 47, will be recognized for his heroic 

efforts when he is inducted into the 2008 State of 

Wisconsin Fire and Police Hall of Fame. 

"I'm very honored," said the veteran firefighter, 

who also spent five years with the Maple Bluff 

Volunteer Fire Department and a year as a parttime 

emergency medical technician for the town 

of Madison. "This is a career high." 

The Eau Claire Fire Department was called to 2731 

Crestwood Road - then the home of Roy and Anita 

Wright - shortly before 6 p.m. July 28, 1996, after 

Roy Wright called 911 to report a kitchen fire, 

according to news accounts. 

McCaughey, then an acting lieutenant, and his 

company from the former Station 9 at the corner 

of Sixth Avenue and Vine Street were the first to 

arrive on the scene, where smoke was pouring out 

the front door, and flames were visible. 

Learning the Wrights - who had been canning 

peaches - were still inside, McCaughey and a 

fellow firefighter tried to make their way into the 

home through the front door, but found it was 

being held shut with great resistance. 

Using more force, McCaughey was able to push 

the front door in, where he found the source of the 

resistance - an unconscious Roy Wright, who was 

lying against the door inches away from safety. 

McCaughey and his partner, who has since left the 

department, got Wright out of the home and left 

him in the care of other firefighters. 

The conditions of the home were deteriorating 

rapidly. McCaughey ordered a second alarm to 

bring more help, and he and his crew re-entered 

the home to find Anita Wright, but had to stop the 

search to extinguish the flames that were rolling 

out of the living room. 

After knocking down the fire temporarily, the crew 

headed down a hall when one of them heard a faint 

moan coming from a semi-conscious Anita Wright 

who was lying on a bathroom floor. Firefighters 

carried her out of the house to another waiting 

crew, and then re-entered the home to finish their 

search in case there were others who were unaccounted 

for. No one else was inside. 

"There's always a thought (with people in a house 

fire) whether you're going to make a rescue or a 

recovery," McCaughey said in a 1996 interview. 

"These were a couple of lucky people." 

"This is what firefighters are supposed to do, but 

there were some real heroic actions out there that 

day," said Battalion Chief Dave Okas, who was 

inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999. "It would 

have been easy not to have gone back into that 

building that day. ... However, that's not the 

mentality of a firefighter." 

"It's never an individual effort," said Gee, who was 

the battalion chief on duty the day of the fire, "but 

in this particular case, destiny put Tim there, and 

he did an outstanding job. He deserves to be 

recognized for his bravery."
