But row<strong>in</strong>g is known as a healthy sport<br />

and has a good reputation<br />

<strong>Row<strong>in</strong>g</strong> is not part of the school system!

<strong>School</strong> - <strong>Row<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Austria</strong><br />

• <strong>School</strong> – <strong>Row<strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Austria</strong> is based on co-operation between<br />

clubs and schools<br />

• The <strong>Austria</strong>n Federation can „only“ support clubs <strong>in</strong> f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g and<br />

teach<strong>in</strong>g young talents

Talent-scout<strong>in</strong>g<br />

• the club-coaches go <strong>in</strong>to the school and <strong>in</strong>troduce their club and<br />

„<strong>Row<strong>in</strong>g</strong>“ to the children<br />

• coaches show the row<strong>in</strong>g technique<br />

Intention<br />

• The <strong>in</strong>tention is to use the co-operation between clubs and school<br />

to get as much rowers as they need respectively as the coaches<br />

can handle<br />

• The Federation gets rowers for their selections out of the clubs<br />

• Therefore the Federation is <strong>in</strong>trested <strong>in</strong> support<strong>in</strong>g the clubs

Conclusion<br />

• even though row<strong>in</strong>g is not part of the austrian school system, the<br />

co-operation between clubs and schools is very important for<br />

f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>g new talents<br />

• but the success is limited by the number of coaches!
