Here we are early in 2008 and already our JOAD program has<br />

seen several young archers achieve awards in recent archery<br />

tournaments along with individual accomplishments of advancing<br />

through the different levels of the JOAD program.<br />

During a recent State Multicolor Championship Tournament<br />

held at Silver Arrow Bowmen in Mt Vernon our JOAD archers<br />

achieved high awards. All our young archers compete in<br />

the Freestyle Limited Recurve Division.<br />

In the Young Adult Male Division Ben Roop was 1 ST Place,<br />

Young Adult Female Division Lauren Hughes 1 ST Place,<br />

Youth Male Division Jonathan Kuehn 1 ST Place, Youth Female<br />

Division Shannon Ostling 1 ST Place, Elizabeth Caughell<br />

2 ND Place, Maianna DeMatteis 3 RD Place, and Jessica<br />

Schoenfeld 4 TH Place. Female Cub Kimmie Roop 1 ST Place,<br />

and last but not least Pee Wee Female Alexa Claps 1 ST Place.<br />

Enclosed is a picture of Coach Mike Wickser giving last minute<br />

instructions to Elizabeth Caughell, Jessica Schoenfeld,<br />

Maianna DeMatteis and Jonathan Kuehn.<br />

Each Youth archer advances at his or her own pace through<br />

the different JOAD levels. To progress through the achievement<br />

program the archer must pass each level and must shoot the<br />

required score under tournament like conditions. The qualifying<br />

scores are shot in rounds of 30 consecutive arrows for indoor<br />

rounds consisting of 3 arrows at 18 meters with the exception of<br />

the Green Star level which shoots at 9 meters.<br />

Congratulations to all the youth archers. Keep your eye on them<br />

as they compete at the Nationals this Year in Salt Lake City<br />

Utah.<br />

Just a reminder to those of you who are not aware there is still<br />

a chance to shoot your bow indoors on Sunday and Monday<br />

Nights from 7 to 9PM members cost $1.00 non members $ 2.00<br />

in the Clubhouse See you there.
