be held under the auspicies of the M<strong>in</strong>istry of<br />
the <strong>Sea</strong>, Tourism, Transport <strong>and</strong> Development<br />
of the Republic of Cro<strong>at</strong>ia.<br />
<strong>The</strong> Intern<strong>at</strong>ional Associ<strong>at</strong>ion for <strong>Safety</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />
<strong>Survival</strong> Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g was founded <strong>in</strong> 1980 by<br />
a group of major safety tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g providers<br />
whose aim was to facilit<strong>at</strong>e the exchange of<br />
<strong>in</strong>form<strong>at</strong>ion on m<strong>at</strong>ters rel<strong>at</strong><strong>in</strong>g to safety <strong>in</strong><br />
the maritime environment <strong>and</strong> to promote<br />
cont<strong>in</strong>uous improvement <strong>in</strong> safety <strong>and</strong><br />
survival tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>tern<strong>at</strong>ionally. S<strong>in</strong>ce those<br />
early days, the membership has exp<strong>and</strong>ed<br />
dram<strong>at</strong>ically <strong>in</strong>to a truly <strong>in</strong>tern<strong>at</strong>ional<br />
organis<strong>at</strong>ion with 133 members <strong>in</strong> 41 countries<br />

With<strong>in</strong> the Associ<strong>at</strong>ion there is a wide variety<br />
of expertise, which encompasses universities,<br />
