Name SEVEN SEAS
Type Pipelaying vessel
Yard number 710
Year 2008
Purchaser Subsea 7
Built by IHC Merwede
Saipem
Saipem owns dynamically positioned (DP3) vessels
(i.e. Saipem 7000 and Saipem 3000) capable to lift up
to 14,000 t and successfully complete challenging
offshore installation and construction projects; dynamically
positioned (i.e. Saipem 7000 and Castoro
Sei) and conventional (i.e. Castoro 7 and Semac 1)
vessels, capable to lay pipeline with the S-lay and J-lay
techniques in low and deep waters; a field development
ship, the Saipem FDS, capable to J-lay and lift up
to 600 t.
Saipem is actually strengthening its fleet by constructing
new vessels like the CastorOne, a dynamically
positioned (DP3) deepwater laying barge for
operations in extreme environments, and the new
Saipem FDS 2, capable to develop offshore fields by J-
laying and lifting up to 1,000 t in dynamic position
(DP3).
For the Caspian Sea, Saipem has developed a dedicated
fleet (i.e. Castoro 12, TRB tenders and Ersai
vessels) that, thanks to some advanced laying and
trenching technologies, are capable to operate in low
waters, high temperature ranges and harsh and difficult
environments. Saipem is actually completing a new
post-trenching barge, the Castoro 16.
Saipem, through Sonsub, also owns a huge ROV and
subsea construction fleet.
