Hi Everyone,, Happy Easter!
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday
and is able to enjoy some time with their
loved ones to celebrate. I just wanted to
take this chance to remind everyone to be
mindful to not overdue it with holiday
treats. Sweets and rich foods are often
upsetting to delicate digestive systems of
seniors. Chocolate and other sweets can
have severe effects on blood sugar levels.
As with everything, I encourage you to enjoy,
but enjoy in moderation. Being alert to
changes in your loved ones condition, complaints
of stomach upset should be brought
to the attention of nursing or the care staff.
Many times getting an order from the MD
for a short term over the counter medication
can help off set or prevent discomfort..
As always, enjoy the wonderful weather
and your holiday. I look forward to seeing
all of you at the Easter Brunch.
Best Always,
Doug and Christine
Well spring is finally here despite the recent snowfall.
CULINARY CORNER
The new Grill is in use now and the cooks are really appreciating it. We should be seeing greater variety of fresh produce and seafood
as the weather warms up. Soon it will be time for gardening to begin so any interested should contact Selena for further information
on that. The cooks are looking forward to using fresh herbs again form the garden. What a great time of year!
Remember to join us for Food and resident council meetings again this month. It is normally the second Thursday of the month so
check your calendars.
Thanks,
Kevin and Our Culinary Team
As many of you know Alzheimer’s and Dementia
changes a persons ability to communicate the same
way an unaffected person would. Communication
challenges often become frustrating and upsetting for
loved ones who struggle to find a way to connect.
There is still hope to experience meaningful connections
regardless of the stage of the disease process
your loved one may be in.
Another significant change that comes over the
course of the disease process are noticeable behavioral
changes. This can also be upsetting to see or interact
with a loved one who is suddenly exhibiting new
emotions and actions that are difficult to understand.
I would like to invite all families struggling to understand
Alzheimer's and Dementia as a disease, to attend
my monthly education course, to provide you
with support , understanding and the resources for
your journey ahead. The course will be held every second
Thursday at Morningstar from 9am-12pm Please
