The Overture 45 and Overture 45+ provide the ideal solution for delivering
cost-effective, managed Ethernet over DS3 applications. This ‘plug-and-play’
solution delivers carrier-class performance allowing carriers to deliver a lowcost,
first-entry solution for single customer scenarios.
The Overture 45 and Overture 45+ can attach to an existing SONET/SDH Add
Drop Multiplexer (ADM), DS3 fixed wireless link, or a leased DS3 facility. Two
subscriber Ethernet ports enable prioritized traffic to be fed to the network.
In a hub-and-spoke configuration, several Overture 45s can feed the Overture
5100, 6000 or other aggregation switches and can be managed in-band
through the DS3 connection. The Overture 45 and Overture 45+ can also be
paired back-to-back to deliver cost-effective point-to-point Ethernet and TDM
interconnections.
With the Overture 45 or Overture 45+, a carrier is able to enter a single
customer location and capture Ethernet service revenue with a low, first-cost
solution that can be deployed today and pay for itself within a few months—
without having to invest in a costly build out of the metro network.

Deliver Managment and service intelligence to the
remote customer edge
Using the Overture 45 and 45+ in conjunction with the Oveture 6000, 5100
or 6100 delivers the greatest value to the customer, as more intelligent
services and management capabilities can be leveraged via hub-and-spoke
configuration. For example, with a single Overture 6000 serving as the hub, up
to 24 ISG 45/45+s can be deployed across a metropolitan area, an office park
or up the risers in a multi-tenant building to deliver managed Ethernet services.
In this configuration, each of the Overture unit can be managed in-band via
a management VLAN or out-of band via Ethernet. The remote management
capability allows carriers to extend multiservice management ‘visibility’ all
the way to the remote customer edge. From a single operator viewpoint, a full
range of performance statistics, loopback diagnostics, cable integrity testing,
and differentiated service definition allows the carrier to remotely manage and
provision each individual Overture 45 and Overture 45+ without ever having to
touch the unit itself. Customers can be managed remotely and new services can
be turned up quickly and easily without any truck rolls – thereby providing huge
operational savings.
