FUNCTION
OF THE METAL FOIL
The “self-protective” function
of the metal foil is determining,
in the combination with traditional
bituminous membranes, for the
durability of the waterproofing.
Instead, as for ARWENOL AL, the
metal foils have a purely aesthetic
function, since the supporting
waterproof membrane is durable by
itself. ARWENOL AL is produced in
four different versions according
to the colour of the aluminium foil:
natural, green, dark red and copper.
In any case, the metal foil of
ARWENOL AL is made of 99,5%
pure aluminium.
PACKAGE AND
TERMOTENE TREATMENT
ARWENOL AL is packed in 1.05 m wide
and 12 m long rolls.The upper face of the
membranes is covered by the metal foil,
excluding a 5 cm wide longitudinal band
(selvedge) treated with TERMOTENE
as the lower face.The function of this
selvedge is to make easier the gluing
of the overlapped part between nearby
sheets, whereas the TERMOTENE
treatment is made in order to make
the application cheaper and safer.
Therefore, ARWENOL AL differs from
the coatings with metal foil joined
to traditional bituminous Membranes.
In fact, the latter are mainly made
of blown fillered bitumen showing
the tendency of becoming brittle
at low temperatures and to slip
at high temperatures.
On the contrary, the special
ARWENOL AL compound
does not have these problems.
ADHESION BETWEEN
FOIL AND SUPPORT
The special compound made of special
bitumen and polymers ensure a perfect
and durable adhesion of the metal foil.

OF EMPLOYMENT
– Waterproofing for civil, industrial,
residential, councilhouse, religious
building.
– Waterproofing of attics, wooden
roofs.
– Protection of façades.
– Finishings of traditional
Waterproofings where aesthetic
requirements are necessary
(parapets, cornices, etc.).
– ARWENOL AL can be employed
on coatings where the traffic
is reduced.
In fact, it does not have resistance
to punching, both static and
dynamic.
ADVISES FOR THE
APPLICATION
Application modes are a determining
factor characterising the Waterproofing
performances.
In employing ARWENOL AL, it is
always advisable to cut the sheets to
a length not exceeding 5 m and to
always apply them staggered. Side and
head joints must be made by means
of a more accurate reflow treatment
with respect to the one made
on the remaining surface.
In particular, we recommend to use
a torch having a smaller flame,
whose direction and power can be
easily adjusted.
The best application results are get
using a torch with a larger flame for
the central surface and then “touching
up” the joints with a torch having
a smaller flame which allows a more
finished and accurate work.

Test carried out with Q.U.V. equipment - Accelerated
Weathering Tester, according to ASTM/ANSI G 53-77 standard.
Test cycle: 4 hours of ultraviolet radiation test succeeded
with peak emission o 313 nanometers and at +60°C,
alternated to 4 hours of steam condensate at +40°C.
Test duration 400 hours.
Passes test
Shape stability at high temperatures (EN 1110) °C >100
Permeability to steam (EN 1931) m >120.000
