EASTER REGATTA
BULLETIN BOARD
T-Shirts and more...
This year’s Bequia Easter Regatta souvenir T-Shirts,
plus Bequia Sailing Club Caps and T-Shirts are all on
sale at the Bequia Tourism Office seven days a week,
and at the Frangipani from Wednesday 1st April.
Selling hours at the Frangipani will be extended
on Wednesday 1st and Thursday 2nd while Yacht
Registration is taking place, but if you want make sure
you have a good choice of sizes, don't delay -
everything is selling really fast!
Coconut Boat Races
Don't miss the traditional Bequia Coconut Boat races
on Easter Saturday morning in Hamilton. Organised by
Bequia coconut boat enthusiasts and supported by the
Bequia Sailing Club, the races are open to everyone -
just bring along your boat! These can be obtained at
either Mauvin's or Sargeant's model boat shops.
Sandcastle &
Sand Sculpture Competition
the best fun you ever had on the beach!!
Date: Lay Day Sunday 5th April. Location: The west
end of Friendship Beach, at the Bequia Beach Hotel.
Kids or adults, teams or individuals – all are welcome
to take part in this super-fun, and very popular Lay Day
Easter Sunday activity for all ages, generously sponsored
this year by LIME!
Registration will be from 9.30am, followed by the
Start at 10am. Teams will be divided into two categories:
Kids up to 14 years, or Kids + Adults. No one
may start building or gathering decorations from the
beach until the “Start” whistle is blown! The competition
will end at 11am and state of completion will
be one of the judges’ criteria. Prize-giving will be at
approximately 11.45am.
Here are a few rules and guidelines:
• Human bodies may NOT be used as “moulds”!
Buckets, cups etc., can be used for modelling but
this may score lower for construction skills
• Use of natural or man-made objects such as
leaves, flowers, pieces of glass, bottle tops and
rope is encouraged, but only items found on the
beach DURING the competition are permitted.
• Organisers tip: Check out the location, tides and
state of the beach in advance!
Please note: If beach conditions are unfavourable, the
Sandcastle Competition may have to be relocated.
MORE FAMILY FUN
ON LAY DAY SUNDAY
Regatta sponsors Bequia Beach Hotel are organising a
fun-filled Sunday by the beach in Friendship Bay. After
the Sandcastle Competition and the start of the Sunday
fishing boat race further along the beach, enjoy lunch,
live music, games and activities for all the family in the
shade of the palm trees by the hotel's Beach Bar.
More details in next week's Bequia This Week.

Souvenir Programme
The Bequia Sailing Club's Easter Regatta Programme
2015 includes course maps, race details, Regatta events
schedule and all the information you need in Bequia
at Easter to follow the regatta. Pick up a copy at the
Tourism Office from Wednesday 1st April - it's free!

Kenmore Henville of Bequia Photo Action will be
officially covering all the races on the water during
regatta, as well as photographing non-competing boats.
Photos of all the action will be on display and for sale
at each of the daily yacht prize-givings, and at the
Grand Prize-giving at the Gingerbread Cafe Gardens on
Monday April 6th. For contact details see ad opposite.
BEQUIA FERRY TIMES
On Good Friday and Easter Monday, both ferry
companies will operate on their Sunday Schedules. For
other sailing times or general enquiries, call the ferry
companies directly:

Bank Opening Times
BoSVG bank in Bequia should be open till 5.00pm on
Thursday 27th March. It will then remain closed until
8.00am on Tuesday 7th April.
Two ATM machines should be available, but supply
cannot be guaranteed throughout the holiday weekend -
you have been warned!

Yacht Garbage Disposal
Ashore, there is only one place to dispose of yacht garbage – the skips located off the Fish Market Jetty
next to the Vegetable Market. These are reserved exclusively for yachties’ use.
Alternatively, yacht garbage may be delivered “at sea” to Daffodil Marine or other reliable water taxis;
charge usually $3.00 to $5.00 per bag. Dumping in unauthorized places is a prosecutable offence.
