Take a nighttime safari through dense forests and wide-open savannas to
discover some of the animals of this mysterious continent.

adventure where you will encounter some of the unique animals of this
continental country and have the option of taking a dip in the billabong.
Manatee Rescue
Join Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo’s efforts to help save the manatees. Learn
about our unique rescue facilities and spend the night “side-by-side” with
our incredible gentle giants in the air conditioned Manatee and Aquatics
Center.
Nocturnal Adventures
Experience life as an animal of the night! Find out who comes out when the
sun goes down as you stalk and slither your way through the Zoo to see
nocturnal animals in action.
Rainforest Quest
Did you know rainforests are home to over half the species of plants and
animals in the world? Trek through the Zoo to meet some of the inhabitants
of this diverse and delicate ecosystem and join the quest to save this
important resource.

home school classes
FOR STUDENTS K-8 GRADES
Interactive and hands-on, these animal-based classroom lessons
are followed immediately by application with an animal encounter
and/or Zoo hike. Participants may express their creativity with
themed crafts or experiments, and also interact with their peers
in classroom activities. All students receive a certificate of
participation. Parent involvement is optional. Any information
regarding Home School will be kept confidential. Programs
meet Sunshine State Standards in Language Arts and Science.
Materials will be provided only to paying participants.

Ages: K-8 grade

TEAM BUILDING
ACTIVITIES
Activities can accommodate groups of
most any size and can be customized
for school groups, work teams or other
groups.
Teambuilding Trek
Group members will identify their individual
“team species,” participate in a group challenge
to help improve their communication and
teamwork, and take part in a mini-scavenger
hunt in the Zoo!
Ages: 10 and up.
Scavenger Hunts
Use your animal instincts to solve clues,
work together, and have fun on a zoo-wide
scavenger hunt. Scavenge smartly and hunt
hurriedly...the winning group gets a prize.

Experiences

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY
school holiday camps
No school? No problem! Students in grades K-5, join Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo for fun
and (shh!) education during Hillsborough County school breaks.
A typical day at camp may include:
• Zoo hikes
• Classroom lessons with pictures and artifacts
• Animal encounters and enrichments
• Arts and crafts projects
• Animal shows and feedings
• Keeper talks
• Educational videos
PROGRAM INFORMATION:
Ages: Grades K-5
Time: 9a.m. to 4p.m.
Extended Hours: If you need to drop your
child off before 8:55a.m. or pick them up after
4p.m., you must sign up for extended care.
Extended care can only be for the entire length
of camp. Sorry, partial week extended care is not
available.
DROP AND SHOP
for the
holiday season
Let us help you during this busy time of the year. While you are getting some of
your holiday shopping and errands done, your child will be hiking through the Zoo,
visiting live reindeer, enjoying an animal encounter/enrichment, and making
holiday crafts. All this is topped off with hot cocoa and cookies!

teen workshop
Do you love animals? Do you hope to work in a zoo one day?
This 2.5-hour workshop is a perfect opportunity to learn more
about animal-related careers. Get to know some of the animals
at Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo up-close and earn service hours
by completing a mini-service project. Workshop includes an
introduction to animal careers, an animal encounter, and a Zoo
tour consisting of a “behind-the-scenes” component and an
animal enrichment or husbandry experience. Each participant
will receive a certificate acknowledging the service hours earned
through the workshop.

Ages: 13-17
Cost: $25 per participant

TWILIGHT TOURS
Experience the Zoo after the sun goes down. Bring
your flashlight for the best views as you enjoy a guided
hike through the Zoo, go behind-the-scenes to see the
workings of our world class manatee hospital, and have
an up-close encounter with Zoo Animal Ambassadors.
Your evening includes a pizza snack and soda.
PROGRAM INFORMATION:
Ages: 5 through adult
• A paying adult must accompany child(ren).
Dates: Select Saturdays in September and January
Time: 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.
BEASTLY BREAKFAST
Rise and shine with the elephants at the Zoo. Enjoy
an exclusive behind-the scenes encounter including:
watching their morning training session done by a
Zookeeper from just feet away. Enjoy the opportunity
to talk with their keeper too. Your VIP treatment will
continue as you enjoy a delicious breakfast served
overlooking the animals on the African savannah.
Your special morning will them continue with upclose
encounters with Zoo Animal Ambassadors and
then a behind-the-scenes tour which includes our
world class manatee hospital. Then you are free to
enjoy the rest of your day in the Zoo.
