About University:
The Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University was
established on 4 th August, 1923. At Present, University comprises
of thirtyeight Post Graduate Teaching Departments, three
Constituent Collèges/ Institutions . The University offers courses in
various faculties such as Arts, Science, Law, Social Science,
Commerce, Home Science, Education, Pharmacy etc. The faculties
at the University are carrying out research in core and
interdisciplinary areas and is being supported by various funding
agencies.
About the Technology Park:
The Technology Park (TP) of the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj
Nagpur University, Nagpur was established in 2007 with an
objective to bring the academicians, researchers and industrialists
on a common platform for mutual benefits and for benefit of the
society at large. The park acts as a bridge between academicians
and industries and channelizes the institutional activities to provide
long lasting solutions to industries. The aim of the TP is to create
an atmosphere for innovation and enterpreneurship for active
interaction between University and industries for sharing ideas,
knowledge and experience and provide facilities for the
development of new technologies and their rapid transfer to the
end user. Further, the TP commercializes the universities research
output and expands the universites and industrial relations.
Moreover, the TP will assure industries to provide skilled
manpower from the university departments for the optimum
benefit for their industries.
About Rajiv Gandhi Biotechnology Centre:
The establishment of Rajiv Gandhi Biotechnology Centre proved to
be the much needed shot-in-the arm to the research and
development activities in the field of microbial biotechnology in
Vidarbha. This centre, established in 1995, conducts mission
oriented research work with well-defined mandate for the use of
proven bio-tech product/process development and transfer of
technology to the tribal, rural and semi-urban areas in Vidarbha for
use in agriculture, health and environmental protection. The
Centre's efforts towards an indigenous, low cost, ecofriendly labto-land
transfer of technology especially implemented in Vidarbha
for Socioeconomic upliftment have been largely appreciated .
With an aim of fulfilling the Centre’s objectives & realizing the
potentials of Biofertilizer Production Technology, the Rashtrasant
Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University’s Technology Park & Rajiv
Gandhi Biotechnology Centre, is organizing a “<strong>One</strong> <strong>Day</strong> <strong>Workshop</strong>
on Recent Trends in Biofertilizer Production Technology” on 27th
February, 2013.
Objectives & Theme of the <strong>Workshop</strong>
• To enlighten the concepts involved in the production,
application and validation of biofertilizers to promote the
nutrition, yield quality and marketability of crops.
• To study the indigenous soil microorganisms and soil
health using genomic tools
• To explain the concept of the soil biodiversity in various
agro-ecologies for biofertilizer applications in diverse
cropping systems.
• To study the impact of soil management practices on
functional diversity of microorganisms
• To improve biofertilizer technology with particular
reference to quality, carriers, consortia and delivery
systems.
• Formulation and testing of mixed biofertilizers in diverse
cropping systems.

Biofertilizer Production Technology :
As the world population continues to increase, the provision
of an adequate supply of food remains a challenge. This can
be achieved only through further increases in yields,
involving the enhanced use of Biofertilizer application rates,
for they are relatively low in many areas. The promotion of
Biofertilizer production & dissemination of this technology to
the terminal receptor, in order to increase crop yields has
been a major objective of the centre for more than a decade.
This also entails selecting products and implementing
practices that improves Biofertilizer-use efficiency. <strong>One</strong>
important missing element has been the lack of considering
the consequence of the weaknesses inherent in the quality
control mechanism. This theme therefore analyzes the
limitation in the current practices of biofertilizer quality. It
puts forth counsel to correct the shortcomings and
strengthen the market mechanism so that the goals of the
policy are achieved more effectively and efficiently. In a
nutshell, the problems stem from archaic and rigid provisions
and need to be dealt with in a scientific manner –through
better quality testing systems and better quality human
interface.
