Ludington Guard Band<br />
The strains <strong>of</strong> John Phillip Sousa fill the<br />
warm air in Wilson Park Tuesday nights,<br />
June through August. The Ludington<br />
Guard Band is one <strong>of</strong> the 100-year-old<br />
institutions that make living in or visiting<br />
<strong>Menomonie</strong> so magical.<br />
Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts<br />
The Mabel Tainter Center for the Arts,<br />
built in 1889, is where ballet, drama,<br />
chorus, folk song, blue grass, and opera<br />
take turns filling the stage. Find center<br />

Performing at the Mabel for over 40<br />
seasons, the community-based <strong>Menomonie</strong><br />
Theater Guild presents 3-4 shows every<br />
year, including a major musical. To get<br />

Summer Festivals<br />
The <strong>Greater</strong> <strong>Menomonie</strong> <strong>Area</strong> <strong>Chamber</strong><br />
<strong>of</strong> Commerce presents the Nature Valley<br />
Grand Prix on Saturday June 15th <strong>2013</strong>.<br />
On the same weekend starting June 14-15,<br />
enjoy Main Street’s Summerdaze festival.<br />
On July 4th, FreedomFest fills Wakanda<br />
Park with music and lights up the sky with<br />
fireworks at dusk.<br />
The popular Dunn County Fair occurs<br />

A Place for Fine Art<br />
If art is food for the soul, then prepare to<br />
be well fed in one <strong>of</strong> western Wisconsin’s<br />
most respected art communities.<br />
Ludington Guard Band plays on a summer evening.<br />

to potters, stone cutters, photographers,<br />
jewelers, sculptors, metal workers, and<br />
painters. Many open their studios for<br />
special occassions<br />

UW-Stout’s art<br />
department contributes<br />
to the richness <strong>of</strong> the<br />
local arts. Two galleries<br />
are housed in the<br />
department, a student<br />
gallery and the John<br />
Furlong Gallery.<br />

featured artist in the<br />
upstairs gallery, and<br />
maintains a gift shop<br />

Arts and Crafts Faire<br />
November 23-24, <strong>2013</strong>.<br />
The local arts are further supported by<br />
ACT: Arts Coming Together, a consortium<br />
<strong>of</strong> artists, art organizations, and art<br />
advocates working cooperatively to nurture<br />
artists in their own communities, while<br />
fostering lifelong involvement with the<br />
arts. ACT maintains a gallery and space<br />
for classes, located behind the Wilson Place<br />
Mansion.<br />
Witt Art Gallery is dedicated to artists who<br />
handcraft original works such as pottery,<br />
jewelry, fiber arts, paintings, photography<br />
and garden art. The gallery is attached to<br />
the 1908 Victorian home <strong>of</strong> Cheryl Witt<br />
and opens three times per year for special<br />
