proposed legislation.” — Matthew Kahn, Los Angeles Times
Accolades
During the inaugural year in the School of Public Affairs, Luskin Center
staff developed a multipronged strategy to communicate the opportunities and accomplishments
of the Luskin Center. Starting off, the staff identified the individuals and groups with whom the
Luskin Center would initiate regular communication and determined how best to reach out to
those leaders. From there, the staff recruited the advisory board and the executive committee,
holding the inaugural executive committee meeting on April 7th and the inaugural advisory board
meeting on April 22nd. The Luskin Center launched several communication vehicles in the summer
of 2010, including the Luskin Center Web site and a quarterly newsletter. Moreover, throughout
the year, the Luskin Center published and presented research findings via reports, conferences,
media interviews, and briefings with elected officials. Luskin Scholars received numerous awards
and distinctions and also served on influential committees.
