LANNIE ROSE, AUTHOR OF LANNIE! MY JOURNEY FROM MAN TO WOMAN
Lannie Rose works in the high-tech industry as a technical writer. Her
self-published book, How To Change Your Sex: A Lighthearted Look at the
Hardest Thing You’ll Ever Do, is popular in the transsexual community.

writing has appeared in the e-zine Transgender Forum, and two of her
pieces were incorporated into the Dennis Johnston Award-winning play
The Naked I: Monologues from Beyond the Binary by Tobias K. Davis. She
holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from U. C. Berkeley, and an MBA
from Santa Clara University. Lannie currently resides in San Jose, CA.

Pasadena
• Earned a B.S. degree in electrical engineering from The University
of California at Berkeley
• Earned an MBA from Santa Clara University
• Worked as a computer hardware engineer in Silicon Valley (San
Jose) for 25 years

successful start-up companies
o Rose to the level of Director of Engineering
o Awarded 4 patents related to computer tape drives
• Was a functional alcoholic during adult male life; entered
recovery when she changed her sex
• Married at 30, divorced at 35, no children
• Became a “typical heterosexual cross-dresser” after the divorce
• After ten years of cross-dressing, author became aware of possibly
being transsexual—the book begins in earnest at this point
• As covered in the book, over the next five years the author
decided she was transsexual, began living as a woman, underwent
sex change surgery in Palo Also, CA, and started a new (and sober)
life
• At the end of the book, the author is planning a new career in
nursing
• After the book was written, the author changed her career plans
and is now a technical writer at a small marketing firm in Redwood
City; she lives in San Jose with her calico cat, Calpurrnia
