Summer Road Trip Events Thank you to all of our dedicated retailer partners who helped to make the 2011 Summer Road Trip a success! From the city to the beach and everywhere in between, the Delaware Lottery and our retail partners helped spread Lottery fun by selling tickets and handing out great prizes at events throughout the summer. SPark Summer Series Reaching a wide range of demographics is an ongoing effort that’s taken very seriously by the Delaware State Lottery. One way we accomplish this is by supporting numerous events throughout the year. One event that has fast become a staple over the past few years is our involvement in the “Spark Summer Series.” Spark is a free weekly published by The News Journal. The event helps expose local bands and their original music to the public in a bar/club setting. The Series is held one night a week for eight weeks from July 4 through Labor Day at venues across the state. You may ask yourself, “Why is the Delaware Lottery involved with an event like this?” and, “Why should we, the retailer base, care?” Good questions. The reasons are many but the most obvious ones are: 1. Our presence at events like this helps educate the public, existing players and new ones, about the Delaware State Lottery, our product and how the lottery benefits the state. 2. With the promotional items, tickets and coupons passed out to the patrons, we get the opportunity to interact with them and talk about the places to purchase and cash tickets. So, next summer, pick up a “Spark Weekly” and look for where the “Spark Summer Series” events are happening and come out and have some fun! Delaware State Fair Sponsorship and Josh Turner Concert The Delaware Lottery was the presenting sponsor of country singer Josh Turner with The Band Perry at the 2011 Delaware State Fair. Several retailers and their guests watched the show, and some even got to meet Josh Turner backstage!
