Dear Customers, 

normally this introduction is done by our marketing guys, but 

this year I wanted to write it on my own, as it is a special year 

for Powerslide and me personally. 

The introduction of the Phuzion fitness line is making 

Powerslide the full blown skate company with the largest and 

best selection of all brands. 

22 years ago I started to skate and it became my dream to be 

a winner in whatever I do. I wanted to win races and still this 

competitive mind drives me everyday trying to be the best and 

improve day by day. I had my ups and downs in sport, life and 

business, but I would not be a real sportsman with a fighting 

attitude if I would not stand up again and come back, trying to 

be stronger, faster and smarter in everything I do. 

Over the years, step by step, my dreams in sport, business and 

life came true. Since we started the Phuzion project I feel my 

passion for skating is stronger than ever before. 

So selecting the slogan for Phuzion was easy: 

WE LOVE TO SKATE 

and yes I still love to skate with every beat of my heart. 

If I would have time I would compete in races again. 

The fast and smooth glide, the thrill of speed and victory, the 

unmatched body workout for your muscles and heart, along 

with the perfect bodyshape you achieve. I could write pages 

why I love skating and I proudly can say: 

Skating made me what I am. It taught me to have a 

competitive mind, never surrender, never stop working or 

training, being a leader, that a race is not over until you cross 

the finishline. 

A lost race is not the end, a team is stronger than a single 

man and relations and friendship count most. 

I know that it´s not easy to work with me as I`m 

never satisfied. I want to thank all the people 

sticking with me through the years, like my 

partner Stefan, my colleagues at work, 

our suppliers, you, the valued 

customer and most of all my 

family. I welcome everyone to 

share my passion for

Pitch Control 

Pitch control helps you to find the perfect skating 

position: lean more forward for fast action or lean more 

backward for long distance. 

Stride Bar 

The stride bar offers support from over the ankle down 

to the footsole. This support assures that no power gets 

lost and all stride power is directly converted into speed. 

Stride Control 

Stride control will help to adjust the perfect angle 

between the frame and the boot for a perfect and longer 

push or a correct skating postion and help off set mal 

foot positions. 

195mm 

195 Mount Long 

The so called mounting distance is 195mm. This 

means that the distance between front mounting screw 

and back mounting screw of the frame to the boot is 

195mm. Big advantage of this is that with bigger wheels 

you have a low boot position, because the front 

mounting is between the first and second wheel, instead 

of above the second wheel. 

Carbon Shell 

Anatomically shaped carbon shells provide ulitmate 

control, power transfer and performance for racers and 

high end fitness skaters. 

165mm 

165 Standard Mount 

The so called mounting distance is 165mm. This 

means that the distance between front mounting screw 

and back mounting screw of the frame to the boot is 

165mm. This is the traditional distance, used for most 

of the skates in the world. 

Flat Bottom Shell 

Standard fitness skates have a flat bottom with 

integrated heel lift for easy production and assembly. 

X-Slot Mounting 

The boot has a horizontal mounting slot and the frame 

has a vertical mounting slot. This gives the skater 

endless possiblities to move the boot forward or 

backward and sidewards. So the skater can very 

precisely customize his boot position without dead spots. 

Double Voided 

Double voided extruded frames offer one of the stiffest 

constructions available for racing and high end fitness.

Height Adjustable Brake (HABS) 

Everybody has their own braking technique. With the 

height adjustable brake, you can position the brake 

like you want it. Furthermore in case of wear off of the 

brakepad, you can simply lower the brake position to 

maintain full braking power. 

Single Void Power Arch 

Power arch extruded frames provide enhanced stiffness, 

control and power transfer 

3D Ventilation 

This boot keeps your foot fresh where you need to be. 

Airflow can enter from the front, the bottom and the 

back, through tiny airchannels. This prevents your feet 

from overheating. 

3D Emboss 

3D shaped material provides extra stiffness and energy 

transfer. 

Trigonomic Fit 

The position of the foot and ankle should always be 

right. The trigonomic fit assures just that: With the 

necessary wrap around fit for the front foot, the 45 

degree strap/buckle to assure your heel stays in the 

back of the boot and the cuff that offers the right side 

support,with the right forward and backward flexibility. 

Skeleton Concept 

The shell of the boot is constructed in the same way as 

a skeleton. This means extreme strength and stiffness 

with very low weight. 

Skeleton C-Concept 

The shell of the boot is constructed in the same way 

as a skeleton. New technologies allow to introduce this 

feature to carbon shells to improve stiffness by lowering 

the weight.

Orthotec Innersole 

Ortopedic elements have been integrated to support a 

correct skating technique. 

Heel Cushion 

In order to provide more absorption on raw asphalt or 

little jumps an extra cushion was inserted right under the 

heel. This offers more comfort and cuts down vibration 

while skating. 

Free Spin 

Bearings especially developed for speed skating featuring 

a special lubricant for fastest and longest spin. Pure high 

speed and adrenaline with super low friction materials. 

Light weight 

The materials we choose for our skates are only of high 

quality but help to reduce the weight of the complete 

skate. The lighter the skate is the less effort you need 

to perform. 

Additional ventilation in the shell also contributes to 

reduce weight. 

Dual Mesh 

The double layer of durable and breatheable mesh 

material supports air circulation. This super light weight 

material also reduces the overall weight of the skate and 

provides great comfort. 

Heat Mouldable 

Every foot is unique. Boots marked with this term can be 

adjusted to fit every foot. In order to make the 

adjustment you need to follow a certain procedure by 

heating up the boot. 

Triple Density Foam 

Maximum comfort without compromises on the performance 

side. The triple density foam guarantees a sneak 

and tight fit. Hard padding on outside, medium hardness 

in the middle and a soft memory foam on the inside of 

the skate. Pure performance fit. 

Waxed Laces 

Waxed laces avoid slipping back after you tightened the 

laces. Thanks of this you don´t need to put so much 

efforts in holding one part of the laces tight while you 

keep pulling the other part. You´ll be thankful especially 

when the lacing is long. 

Memory Foam 

Special foam that always keeps its shape and adjusts to 

each foot individually. 

Single Axles 

These axles are inserted and tightened from one side. 

They are lighter than other axles and made of 

Aluminium.

Flex Control 

On skates with “Flex Control” you can adjust the forward

Heat-treated Hardware 

The hardware of a skate is exposed to many forces while 

performing. Heat-treated nuts, bolts and washers are 

much more durable so they can resistant those forces 

and give you security in your sport. 

EveFit 

Women have different feet proportions than men, like 

smaller toe box, arch area heel pocket and shin zone. In 

order to make them feel comfortable when skating the 

women feet were analized and projected into the perfect 

last. The result is the “Eve Fit” with more comfort and 

better performance for women. 

U-Shape Shell 

More support and a better fit is achieved by this kind 

of shape. It helps for better performance and energy 

transfer.

AL 

Aircraft Aluminium 

This material is used commonly in the aircraft industry. 

It is durable, withstands forces and it is very light. 

AL TI 

Al-Ti 

Is one of the strongest aluminum alloys around and is 

comparable to steel with only a third of the weight. Al-Ti 

is also high resistant to abrasion and corrosion. 

UFS 

This term stands for UNIVERSAL FRAME SYSTEM which 

is a standard agreed by the skate industrie. Every frame 

compatible with this standard can be assembled to 

skates marked with this logo. 

Microfiber 

This material is much more durable and abrasion 

restistant than genuine leather. The structure of 

microfiber allows to work the material easier and to last 

much longer. 

Easy Slip-In 

A material is inserted in the back of the liner that helps 

to slide into the skate when putting them on. 

The Last 

The last is the most important component of a skate. 

This is what give you the comfort and transfers the 

energy with your strides.

The system unites a skate and a shoe. After skating you 

can take out the shoe and use is for walking. 

Height Adjustable Cuff 

The cuff on the skate can be adjusted in the height in

The ratchet buckle is a small device that helps you to 

tighten your skates fast and securely. By operating the 

lever it helps you to adjust the lacing fast even during 

skating. 

Lowrider Technology 

The Lowrider technology combines fast roll with big 

wheels and a low centre of gravity, thanks to the one 

smaller wheel. This combination results in the lowest 

and fastest frame on earth, the Mean Machine of inline 

speed skating. 

Hollow Tube Technology 

This patent pending sandwich shell construction with 

hollow tube inserts provides extra stiffness to the shell to

STORY 

Phuzion Story 

Five years ago Powerslide started to work on the Phuzion project. It had 

always been a dream to be a skate company with a full range of skates 

for all differerent kinds of inline sports including fitness skates. At that 

time it was just a “no-name” project for fitness skates. 

For sure speed skating has a great influence on our Phuzion series. 

You might be surprised to hear that Powerslide fitness skates also have 

their roots in aggressive skating. 

In 1998 USD was launched for aggressive skating, and has established 

itself since then, along with Deshi boots, as a worldwide leading aggressive 

skate brand. 

The successful experience that Powerslide gained from aggressive 

skating in terms of manufacturing and marketing led to the decision to 

enter the fitness skate market. Entering a market with products is one 

thing, being successful is another story. In the year 2000 Powerslide was 

not yet a wellknown skate brand. Even though, Powerslide already had a 

very strong distribution network around the world. At that time the 

strategy was to enter the race market first - the Formula 1 of inline 

skating. Since 2003 Powerslide has become the leading brand in 

speedskating all around the world. The frames, Triple X and Venom are 

the best frames on the market, skated by many top skaters. No other 

frame won more worldtitles in 2006 as the Triple X frame. The Triple X 

racing shoe, with its new 3D-shaped shell construction and integrated 

Clima Control System, set a new standard. 

The new Torsion Bar Technology made long mount racing shoes stronger 

and stiffer, hence faster! 

New heatmoulding technology, a perfect fit in racing shoes, new lasting 

technology and state of the art designs, made Powerslide the leading 

brand in modern day inline speedskating. Along with Matter, the best and 

fastest wheel on the planet right now, Powerslide offers an 

unbeatable setup. Now, after 3 years, all this race proven technology has 

been transferred into the Phuzion project. The Powerslide Phuzion skates 

are a melting pot of all the technology found in modern speedskates. 

In addition to all the recent technology, Powerslide just set up an own 

custom boot shop and hired an orthopedic shoemaker who works on 

all lasts, patterns, fits and innersoles. This to make sure, that not only 

custom skates fit perfectly, but also the Phuzion line has a fit of its own. 

Fit, performance, technology and leading design can be found in every 

new boot of the Phuzion series. 

The perfect fit and great comfort of the new Powerslide Phuzion skates 

is accomplished by using the best fitting lasts and the latest foams like 

memory foams and heat adjustable foams. High tech materials like 

Microfibers and CoolMax , in combination with great craftsmanship, 

contribute to an outstanding performance fitness skate. 

It is not our target to offer the cheapest fitness skates on the market, 

but to offer the BEST. Quality is what the Powerslide Phuzion series is all 

about. 

Furthermore, over the past years, Powerslide not only developed a 

leading technology for skates, but also built up a strong brandname 

worldwide. In only three years Powerslide team speedskaters won more 

than 25 gold medals at World Games and World Championships, 8 World 

Inline Cups, over 50 European titles, gold medals at the Olympic Games 

in ice speed skating and countless titles at national Championships all 

over the world. 

In 2006 the Powerslide worldteam was already promoting the Phuzion 

name on their racing suit. In 2007 the team has been re-named into the 

Powerslide Phuzion team, that way promoting the new Phuzion series on 

and off the race courses. 

During the past few years Powerslide already supported a lot of the 

major skating events, magazines and sport like no other inline company. 

With this background and the strong Powerslide name in the market, 

the efforts will be increased for 2007 to introduce the new Powerslide 

Phuzion skate series. The marketing activities will include the launch of 

the skates at big skating events, separate test events with key accounts, 

shops and skaters, tests in magazines, exclusive print reports, online 

reports, a Phuzion webpage under the Powerslide umbrella, trade shows 

acompanied by print advertisment in major magazines etc. All this in 

order to make the Phuzion project a successful story. 

The project will be launched simultaneously in several countries to 

achieve global visibility. So be prepared for the Phuzion project, the new 

Powerslide fitness skate series. A new step for Powerslide with the goal 

to be a leading skate manufacturer. 

Investments in technology, patents, marketing and moulds have been 

made in order to secure a project in which dealers, skaters, buyers and 

Powerslide itself will have fun for the years to come. A project that will 

help relaunch the skate business, and that will prove that innovations 

and technology can replace price driven products. Image and quality will 

skyrocket the POWERSLIDE PHUZION skates.

Matter Race Wheels – Superior Wheel Engeneering 

Throughout the past three years Matter has been dominating the 

race scene like no other wheel brand did before. Countless titles 

at World Games, World Championships and European Championships 

have proven that Matter is the fastest wheel by far and 

THE choice of the top skaters. This did not happen by accident. 

Matter worked very hard all these years to create special wheels 

for every situation. 

Overall there is one key fundamental in racing. That is that the 

best wheel chemistries and hub system need to be combined 

to be perfect for any specific situation. Our road wheel is the 

fastest wheel because it is specifically designed for certain conditions. 

It is the best wheel for the lowest rolling resistance, the 

right grip, but not for pure grip. 

The XG is designed specifically for granite and super smooth 

tracks that are very slippery. They have grip but they also lose 

some rebound in order to be perfect for those conditions. They 

also have to be a bit softer so that abrasion is lost. Too hard tops 

are not as necessary on super smooth, slippery tracks. From 

results last year and now again this year, XG is still the choice 

for these specific types of tracks. XG is not designed for painted 

tracks or raw cement tracks. 

Then Code Red is our track formula. Like XG, by appearance, you 

can see it is a completely different formula than Juice. They hold 

better than Juice on the track but are slightly slower on the road. 

customized for each discipline and surface. 

Technology is what defines the Matter wheel. The hollow hub 

construction is unique, giving us some advantages no other 

wheel brand has. The hub is made by ultrasonic welding. Ultrasonic 

welding is the method of joining two parts by converting 

electrical energy into heat energy by high frequency mechanical 

vibration and is suitable for plastics or metals. One part of the 

assembly is set in motion in order to cause intense friction between 

the two pieces, one of which remains held in place. 

This movement is provided by a vibrating component called a sonotrode, 

which is applied at right angles to the surface of the part 

to be welded. 

Friction is localized at the interface of the assembly. The resulting 

heat quickly melts the plastic which flows and causes a chemical 

bond. After it has cooled, a solid homogeneous weld between the 

two components is formed. The vibration frequency of the sonotrode 

is 20 to 40 kHz which is outside the perception limit of the 

human ear. 

Ultrasonic plastics’ welding has advantages: One piece Hollow 

Core Technology (HCT) promotes a stiffer more consistent roll to 

assist in reaching sub 8 second laps Indoor. In addition, ultrasonic 

allows us to keep our HCT while developing an entirely new Energy 

Management Technology system (EMT). This is a breakthrough for 

elite inline racing because it is the first ever hollow core with energy 

management control, giving back nearly all the energy put in. 

Not only does Matter have superior urethane, we also understand 

the importance of making the urethane and core work coherently 

in order to optimize roll, grip, wear and overall performance for 

indoor, road, track and marathon racing. 

EMT is a proprietary technology which has proven to work in several 

other sport applications such as road and mountain cycling, 

skiing and golf. To keep it simple, hard/stiff materials provide 

more rebound than soft/squishy materials. There is more energy 

bundled into hard materials than softer materials. There are hard 

Urethane’s which provide up to 25% more than soft. The Ultimate 

advantage is our ability to manage the energy to give specific foot 

prints and flex without sacrificing roll, grip and wear. 

Our Energy Management Technology gives you a better understanding 

of why Matter outperforms its competition 95% of the time.

For this new speed collection we thank our skaters for their 

input and help. Special thanks to 

Kalon Dobbin who´s great ideas will be 

incorporated into our 2008 line such as the pitch and stride 

control, the new Core Icon frame and some other cool and 

unique ideas. Thanks also to 

Yann Guyader and Pascal Briand for their 

unconditional support. 

The 2008 collection will feature the new Universal Flap, which 

can be perfectly adjusted to the 

specific skaters foot. We have changed our shells to the 

195mm standard and reworked the shell construction 

to make it lighter, yet stiffer. 

The 110mm/100mm “Mean Machine” was the set up in 2007. 

A big discussion about the legalization of oversized wheels 

started with our 110mm LEGALIZE 

campaign. The world speedskating federation (FIRS) will 

change the rules for 2008 and will allow wheels with larger 

diameters for 2008. The European Federation (CEC) adjusted 

the rules for marathons and other national associations also 

followed their example.
