PRAYER CONCERNS
Pray for Jan and her family as she is ordained on June 27 th . We
thank God for her ministry among us and pray God’s blessing on
all that He has in store.
Praise God for Ignition as they continue their work among the
young people of the Valley.
In overcoming all the issues we face as individual churches and
as a Circuit it is not the size of any problem that stands in our
way it is the size of our thirst for change. Ask God to create in
every one of us such a thirst.
As we celebrate the season of Pentecost ask God to fill you again
with His Spirit. Then ask God to use you in any way He desires to
bring glory to Him
From the Super’s Computer:
Dear Friends,
Easter was extraordinary. Lenten study groups and Holy Week worship
prepared us to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus in a wonderful way. God’s presence
was a joy to experience and now we look forward to Pentecost and celebrating the
outpouring, in power, of the Holy Spirit. It is good to remember that although Jesus’ first
followers were pretty much taken by surprise when they were empowered by the Holy
Spirit, we never should be. Rather we should always be asking God for deeper and richer
experiences of the Holy Spirit; God loves to give. ‘Ask and you will receive’ and then be
prepared to serve God as he leads you. The churches in the Circuit all need volunteers to
fill many different roles and the Circuit itself needs Local Preachers and Worship Leaders
and one or two people to coordinate Safeguarding policy. Please contact me if you think
God is calling you in some way. It goes without saying, I hope, that God calls us all to
share our faith through our words and our actions for as we do we will see the church
grow and God’s kingdom breaking into the lives of people in all kinds of exciting ways up
and down the Valley.
Now, there are two great events taking place this summer. The World Cup is one
and we will be celebrating God’s mission to the world with a World Cup Service on June
13 th at Central. Flags will fly and every country involved will be celebrated in song. Four
years ago we had a penalty shoot out, so who knows how we might worship God this
time? Join in and find out. Kick Off at 3:00pm – it couldn’t really be any other time could
it?
The second big event, bigger than the World Cup even, is Jan’s ordination service
down in Southampton on June 27 th . As it’s so far away not many people are able to
travel so Leonard Green will lead an evening service at Longholme on the same day. The
service will reflect the one in Southampton and will enable everyone from the Circuit to
pray for Jan.
It is difficult to put in to words the meaning and joy of ordination. n. It marks the end of
probation but it is also the beginning of a new journey. Jan will state her belief in God’s
call on her life, she will make the promises asked of her by the Church, hands will be
laid upon her as we ask the Holy Spirit to equip her for her calling as a minister in the
Church, and she and those alongside her will be prayed for. A Bible will be given to her
as a sign of the authority committed to her to preach God’s word and celebrate the
sacraments. Then the Presiding minister will declare, in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ, ‘that you have been ordained Presbyter of the one holy catholic and apostolic
Church of Christ.’ Applause will follow!
