Dear Sirs and Madams, Mr. Jacek Krywult Mayor of the city Bielsko-Biała The 35th International Beskidian Rally of Historic Vehicles is near. I sincerely hope that you will accept the organisers’ invitation and will attend this popular event. The Rally, which is also organized by Bielsko-Biała City Council, is not only the occasion to display historic vehicles, but also the occasion to get to know the history and the present of our city. th Last year, the 60 anniversary of uniting Bielsko and Biała towns was celebrated. Bielsko and Biała used to be the two towns, which existed independently in spite of the close neighbourhood. The origins of Bielsko date back to the 13 century. In the 14 th th century it was granted the charter by the Duke of Cieszyn. At that time several craft guilds existed. Among which the most dominant was the cloth guild. The brand BS (Bielskie Sukno) was recognised and highly estimated, not only in Europe, but in many other places around the world. At the same time, th Biała was granted the chart in the 18 century. The cloth industry was also the most important there and it became the main branch of the industry. As a united city, Bielsko-Biała soon became an important part of the industrial map of Poland. For many years it was one of the major textile centres in Poland. In 1970s it became one of the best-known automotive industry city due to Polish automobile factory known as FSM. nd After the 2 World War, Bielsko-Biała gained the name of “the city of hundred industries”. Except for cloth and automobile industry, the electromechanical industry was developing. The products of Apena, Befama or Inducta were well-known around the world. Today Bielsko-Biała is still one of the most active economic centres in the south of Poland. However, many of the former companies do not exist any more. The former factories were replaced by the new ones. New factories were estabilished by the largest world-wide –known companies. Bielsko-Biała is also known as the regional centre of culture and sport. It is highly estimated as a city full of tourist attractions. Bielsko-Biała is probably the only city in Poland which is composed of mountains peaks. It can also boast about very interesting architecture, due to which it is called the ‘Little Vienna’ Many events which are periodically organized make Bielsko- Biała a tourist attraction The Beskidian Rally of Historic Vehicles is one of the most interesting and the most popular events. I would like to convince you that Bielsko-Biała City Council th and all the organizers will do their best to make the 35 Rally anniversary unforgettable. I hope that the time spent in Bielsko-Biała will satisfy you and you will be anxious to come here again. Mayor of the city Bielsko-Biała Jacek Krywult Dear Sirs and Madams, I am pleased to invite you to the 35th International Beskidian Rally of Historic Vehicles (FIVA A), 8th round of th Poland Championship. The Rally takes place between 11 th and 15 of July 2012. The base is situated in Hotel Jawor SPA in Jaworze, near Bielsko-Biała. The Rally is organized on behalf of the Polish Motor Association Council, with the close co-operation with Bielsko- Biała City Council and with the help of sponsors. The origins of Beskidian Rallies date back to the year 1977. In 1977, me, Jurek Hubert and several other enthusiasts st organized the 1 Beskidian Rally of Historic Vehicles. That year only seven crews had appeared, but as the years have been passing more and more participants from Poland, the Czech Republic, the Soviet Union, Hungary, Austria and Germany have been coming. The times have been changing, the presidents of Bielsko-Biała have been changing, and even the political system in Poland has changed, but we, in spite of many financial and organizational difficulties, have never cancelled any of our Rallies. The vehicles which used to be brand new, have become historic vehicles. Throughout all those years we have been gaining experience and although the years have been passing, we have never lost the energy nor willingness to keep organising our Rallies. Remember that the arrangements last almost a year. I must admit that without the help of my wife and my children (who have been always with us from the very beginning) and with the help of many dedicated organizers there would not be a chance to th celebrate the 35 anniversary. We are very glad that among the participants of our Rallies there are crews which took part in our first Rallies and many of them have been participating in more than fifteen rallies. The main aim of our Rally is not only the sports competition in driving skills trials, but also the promotion of the history of motorization, and the promotion of safety of road traffic and other entertaining trials and tests. We put the main stress on attractiveness and the variation of the route, so as beautiful views and unforgettable historic monuments seen during the rally will remain memorable. Yet, the most important are the participants and we do our best to encourage them to come again. At the end, I would like to mention that due to long-term efforts and the current Bielsko-Biała City Council goodwill we managed to receive the historic place where the Motorization Museum is located. The Museum has been constantly modernized and extended. The premises of Automobilklub Beskidzki are also situated in the Museum. th I cordially invite you to attend the 35 Beskidian Rally of Historic Vehicles. Yours faithfully, Mr. Jacek Balicki Vice President of Automobilklubu Beskidzkiego 35th International Beskidian Rally of Historic Vehicles
