Reunion Class Giving Boosts
2013 Annual Fund
Every generation of Chaminade
Julienne and predecessor school
graduates can point to memories
which made their high school experience
distinctively their own. When they gather
under the big tent this summer for
Reunion Weekend 2013, no doubt stories
will be shared comparing how each
generation is set apart from all others.
Coaching styles of Coach Place to Coach
Faust are likely to be compared, while
others will note the wide array of uniform
styles worn over the years — jumpers and
saddle shoes for Julienne and St. Joseph
grads and the uniform free days of the
70’s and early 80’s. Celebrants will talk
about changes downtown and on campus,
remember teachers of their day, and recall
the stories which tend to grow just a little
bigger and better over the years.
While these memories call to mind very
different times and different places, it is
the strong threads of faith and mission
— our combined foundations — that
sew each generation’s story into one combined
tradition of family spirit and love
for Christ.
For more than a century, the characteristics
of an education guided by the
Marianist, Sisters of Charity and the
Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur have
inspired excellence in students, and a culture
of philanthropy among graduates.
Gratitude and the inspiration to “give
back” has led to great support for the
Annual Fund for the past two decades,
and increased giving for the past four
years at a time when the economy has
taken its toll on so many.
Class Gifts Help Elevate Success
One of the key driving forces behind the
success of the Annual Fund has been
the elevated giving of graduates during
their reunion years — not only financially,
but through time committed to this
annual effort. Since the launch of the
2013 Annual Fund last July, classmates

have helped coordinate the efforts of
their class, made phone calls, written letters,
and met with development staff to
see what else needed to be accomplished.
Their efforts have positioned their classes
for a tremendous year of support that is
essential to the operations of the school.
Your Contribution is Significant
With three months remaining before the
end of this year’s effort, graduates are invited
to join in their class’ effort in fulfilling
its reunion year goal. There is still
plenty of time to help class representatives
reach out to classmates during this
final push for the top.
During the Taste of CJ event, held on
the Friday night of Reunion Weekend
2013, reunion year class totals-to-date
will be unveiled. At the conclusion of
the Annual Fund year (June 30, 2013),
classes with the largest increase in participation
and the largest increase in total
dollars raised for the year will receive
special recognition for their achievements.
Top finishers will have an emblem
permanently affixed to their class
composites which are currently hanging
in the school’s main floor hallways. This
in addition to recognition in the 2013
Annual Report.
Results to Date
As of the end of March 2013, the Class
of 2008 is leading in the category of increased
participation category with 93
percent increase while the Class of 1943
is leading in increased giving over last
year by a total of $4,740.
As evidenced by our current leaders, it
does not matter whether graduates received
their diplomas five years ago or
70 years ago to impact the results of a
combined class effort
Chaminade Julienne appreciates every
gift made to the Annual Fund, and believes
that those who are moved to give
understand that they share in a rich tradition
that has been blessed over the
years by the sacrifices of vowed religious,
laity, parents, friends and other alumni.
It is in this giving through Chaminade
Julienne that their gifts benefit today’s
students in an excellent way. They are
learning the mission and are the future
of our tradition, and just a few of their
stories are told in the pages of this publication.
Everyone who partners with
the school to educate today’s generation
of students can claim responsibility and
celebrate the wonderful results of their
contributions. V
Progress on Reunion Class totals will be unveiled on
Friday, June 21 during The Taste of CJ at Reunion Weekend 2013.
The results below are totals for each leading class as of March 27.
