STONEWALL LEADERSHIP
PROGRAMME 2011
In partnership with Ashridge Business School
An intensive and inspiring two-day residential for
high talent lesbian, gay and bisexual professionals
10-11 November 2011 | Ashridge, Hertfordshire
STONEWALL LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME 2011
Now in its seventh year, the Stonewall Leadership Programme is the most prestigious leadership
course in Europe specifically designed for high talent lesbian, gay and bisexual professionals.
Stonewall and hundreds of leading employers across the UK understand that people perform
better when they can be themselves. Many generic leadership programmes are not able to
provide the challenging yet safe learning space which enables lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB)
people to evaluate how sexual orientation, an integral aspect of who we are, may impact on
their performance as organisational leaders. Over two days, the Leadership Programme offers the
unique opportunity for delegates to examine who they are as leaders from the perspective of their
sexual orientation and the practice of authentic leadership.
Leadership Programme objectives
The programme works with delegates to
explore the relationship between their sexual
orientation and their effectiveness as leaders.
Facilitated use of reflective practice techniques
in small learning sets inspires delegates to make
powerful connections between who they are as
individuals and as organisational leaders. The
programme encourages delegates to recognise
a way of leading which is personal, authentic,
resilient and productive.
Who should attend?
Typically, delegates come from middle
management to senior executive roles.
Applicants must articulate their motivation for
taking part in the programme, with specific
reference to both their sexual orientation and
their role as an organisational leader. Stonewall
welcomes applications from a range of sectors
and industries and encourages women,
black and minority ethnic people and others
from underrepresented groups to apply.
Applications open Monday 4 July 2011.
people perform better when they can be themselves
For the fourth year, the Leadership Programme will be led by
Jo Bostock, Associate Director, Stonewall Consult.
Jo has been working as an executive coach, group facilitator and
organisational consultant since 1997. Her professional practice is
firmly underpinned by a Masters Degree in Coaching. Jo specialises
in working with high potential talent and organisational leaders
with the capacity to influence their organisations. As the lead
facilitator on the Leadership Programme, Jo will stimulate
reflective inquiry into how delegates can best realise their
potential in individually authentic and productive ways.
We are delighted that Albert Zandvoort, Associate, Ashridge Business School, will join us for the
third consecutive year. Albert has reached the highest levels of academia, has held senior posts
within industry and has written extensively on leadership and development.
Small group learning activities will be facilitated by members of the Stonewall team.
What delegates said in 2010
“As an unashamed sceptic I am delighted to say that I was completely and utterly proven wrong
when I doubted the testimonials that I had seen prior to undertaking the course. The quality of the
facilitation you get in your leadership is outstanding. I defy anybody to leave this course without
having learnt something significant either as a person and/or as a leader.“
“I would recommend this programme to anyone who may feel isolated as an LGB person in
a senior role. It will give you the confidence and strength to face your challenges back in the
workplace.”
“Jo is a great facilitator and really seems to get into people’s heads quickly and understand how
to best approach each individual. I was sceptical about the co-coaching session but really was
blown away by how useful it was. Thank you to all the team for such an amazing opportunity.”
“I knew there was something holding me back, but didn’t understand exactly what that was.
The leadership course has helped me to understand that where I have come from has been a
massive factor in my self-confidence and career. The course has helped me re-define what I want,
what I need and how I am going to get it.”
