LETTER FROM
Hello Everyone,
I hope everyone is doing well and you all have had a great summer. Fall is once again upon us and I wish each of you a
busy one, I mean lots of work to take in.
First of all, I would like to thank everyone who attended and supported the NCTA show this past August. We had a great
turnout with some of the best judges and seminars we could ask for. There were 99 pieces entered and some amazing
work for us all to enjoy. I hope everyone who competed took the opportunity to get a critique and learn from the judges.
I would like to thank everyone who entered a piece and also say congratulations to all the winners. Also, I would like to
thank the suppliers who took the time to attend the show. With the help of a lot of people going out and getting items
from suppliers and others who supported the NCTA, we had a great auction. I want to thank everyone who took part
in making this a success, including the buyers. A big thanks to the board members who all did their jobs to a tee, and
so many others who helped with the show. Welcome to the new members and I hope everyone had a great time and
will continue to support your association. At the business meeting there were some changes made for our association.
Change is not a bad thing, we have made many changes over the past 31 years and the NCTA is still going strong.
One of our main goals continues to be about education and making us all better taxidermists. With the support of each
member, we can continue to go forward and make the NCTA one of the best in the country. We need to pull together
and surpass what we achieved this year with a bigger and better 2013. So don’t wait until the last minute to start your
mounts and make plans to attend the 2013 show.
I have learned a lot being President this past year. If everyone is happy, then you are doing a great job. But, if only one
person is not happy, then you are not doing a good job. I found out it is impossible to make everyone happy, all you can
do is your best and go forward. I have to be President for all the members. Some want things to go this way and others
another way. That is why we each have a voice and a vote to choose the direction of your association. We should all try
to accept the outcome of each step we take. We may not all be happy with how the majority votes on something, but
we as friends and taxidermist should try to do our best to grow the NCTA. We all are better taxidermist and have made
some great friends from this association. I also want to thank everyone who showed me their support this past year.
After the membership meeting this past August, Melissa Stillwell resigned as Secretary/Treasurer. Paul Wilson came
forward and said he would take the position and I have appointed him Secretary/Treasurer. Paul will hold this position
until the next membership meeting. I want to thank Paul for stepping up and taking this job. Paul’s information can be
found on page 2.
Please take the time to vote for the new officers and board members for the coming year (see the Voting
Ballot on page 11). Thanks to each person who has volunteered to take a position in the NCTA.
God Bless,
Vincent Fleming
Taxidermists need to speak up in favor of rules concerning
captive cervids (deer, elk, etc.). Show your support for rules
H22, 23 and 24. QDMA is trying to stop deer farming and this
could take income from taxidermist in North Carolina.
Please take time to email Gordon Myers, Executive Director
of The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission at
gordon.myers@ncwildlife.org to show your support for these
rules. And, for more information about this topic, please feel
free to contact Tommy Hall at 704-753-1470.
