Message from Chair & Executive Director It is an exciting time to be providing support to families with young children in Oakville. Oakville is a community which is currently undergoing major changes due to the implementation of Full Day Kindergarten and the increase in population growth and resulting demand for childcare. Oakville Parent-Child Centre (OPCC) is continually reassessing and restructuring its programming to ensure that it’s meeting the needs of the Oakville community. In 2010 the Board of Directors (Board) of OPCC set a strategic plan focusing on marketing and fundraising. This past year, the Board reassessed its strategic plan and determined that it was still highly relevant and that the Board should continue to target these focus areas. During the 2011-2012 fiscal year solid fundraising and marketing plans were developed due to the support of an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant. Following extensive consultations, a new brand was launched in May. Our new marketing strategy includes a fresh new look to raise awareness of OPCC throughout Oakville. The funders that support OPCC are comprised of many individuals, community groups and businesses. We are extremely thankful and appreciative of your generous support as you help us achieve our mission: to support, nurture and empower families, children and their caregivers. We offer high quality and accessible programming and employ highly skilled, professional and talented staff to run our programs. We would like to thank each and every staff member for their tremendous dedication and their commitment to helping children and families. Together, they have positively impacted thousands of families in Oakville this past year. Throughout the year, the members of the Board have provided advice and guidance on governance, strategic planning and policy matters. These local community volunteers graciously contribute their skills and knowledge because they are committed to OPCC’s mission. We are also very fortunate to have other community volunteers who assist us with the various events and activities that OPCC conducts. Thank you to all for your time and commitment. OPCC is a unique place where families can learn and grow together. Every aspect of OPCC is aimed at helping children aged zero to six to achieve the best possible developmental start.
