archive of 26,634 lithographic limestones, is up to the present absolutely unique

Lars Lundquist (SWE): The Lithographic Academy in Tidaholm
With its workshops, a museum and a graphic arts school the Lithographic
Academy in Tidaholm is one of the most important centers for lithography
and graphic printing in Sweden. Lars Lundquist is the manager of the workshops
and organizes regular meetings of graphic printmakers in Tidaholm.

The title is based on his current work and past experience of the rapidly
evolving world of print making. Richard Noyce is a free-lance author and

After their professional training, Sarah Dudley and Ulrich Kühle elaborated
their manual skills and finally achieved artistic mastery; e.g. by doing

Franz Maria Ferchl and the Annals
From 1973 to 1980, Jürgen Zeidler was director of the printing workshops

Taborpresse Berlin in 1993. 1995 he and his wife Angela Schröder
founded SAAL-Presse in Bergsdorf near Berlin.

Welcome Address by
HRH Franz Duke of Bavaria
The 2nd European Lithography Days will take place for the
second time this summer, and it has been a pleasure for me to
take on the patronage for this ambitious project of the Münchner
Künstlerhaus, with whom I have been associated as chairman of
the board of trustees for many years.
Under the theme of “Beyond the Borders”, the Lithography Days
2012 will provide an overview of the latest developments at the
place of origin of lithographic printing. National and international
artists, gallery owners, printers and the interested public will
have the chance to experience a direct and substantial, practiceoriented
exchange on the present position and tendencies of lithographic
printing.
I am looking forward to the large number of exhibitions, which
will present the wide range of printing techniques, the highly
qualified speeches and discussions taking place at the LITHO+
forum, as well as the numerous excursions to specific workshops
in and around Munich. The variety of expert printing demonstrations
in the courtyard of the Münchner Künstlerhaus, which will be
offered during the entire period of the Lithography Days, will also
give the interested public the opportunity to become acquainted
with lithographic printing and have an active experience of it.
With my patronage, I would like to support the underlying
objectives of the idea of the 2nd European Lithography Days:
to provide artists from all over the world with a forum in which
they can preserve the old tradition of lithographic printing going
back to Alois Senefelder from Munich, and at the same time
continuously develop this art in a creative way.
I wish this valuable artistic endeavour success and continuity in
achieving the set goals.

Eight artists and two composers from Barcelona and Munich give an
interpretation of ’BLUE’ within the exchange project of the Faculty of Fine

The curator Isabel Cadevall gave the first stimulus for ”BLAU/BLUE“.
In fall 2009 it was printed and published by ‘planparallel’ in Munich.

9:00 to 15:00 Guided tour of the Solnhofen quarries (coach trip):
Guided Tour The invention of lithography by Alois Senefelder in the 1790ies made limestone
from Solnhofen a highly desired material. Still today, that particular limestone
– best suited for lithography – is extracted there. A two-hour field
trip in the quarries and in the municipal museum of Solnhofen offers the
opportunity of on-site experience.

10:00 Guided Tour Guided tour of Mayer´sche Hofkunstanstalt, Glaskunst und
Mosaik at München, Seidlstraße 25, 80335 München:
Visiting a company specialised on stained glass and mosaic does not
actually have a printmaker’s background, however, the Hofkunstanstalt
is an internationally leading producer of stained glass and mosaic – and
hence, a very special highlight for any artist’s visit to Munich.

in Munich, Katharina-von-Bora-Straße 10, 80333 München:
Together with the art cabinets in Berlin and Dresden, the Staatliche Graphische
Sammlung Munich (Bavarian State Collection of the Graphic Arts)
preserves Germany’s most important collection of drawings and prints; it
ranks among the leading collections of graphic art worldwide.
Guides: Andreas Strobl, PhD, in colloquy with Klaus Bäumler, shows early
lithographs of around 1800.
14:00 Guided Tour Guided tour in the footsteps of Franz Xaver Hanfstaengl
at Blanc Kunstverlag (art publishing house),
Levelingstraße 8, 81673 München.
In 1833 Franz Xaver Hanfstaengl founded the Lithographische Anstalt
(lithographic press) which is up to today successfully carried on by Kunstverlag
Blanc. Thus, those rare and sought-for Hanfstaengel etchings and
hand press copperplate-printings are accessible to an international public
interested in art.
Franz Duchatsch is a master of the "à la poupée" printing technique (me
thod of inking intaglio prints). 12.- € contribution towards expenses.
16:30 Guided Tour Guided tour of the printing center of Süddeutsche Zeitung,
Zamdorfer Straße 40, 81677 München
Located at München-Steinhausen, the Süddeutsche Verlag has
established one of the most modern newspaper printing plants in Europe.
Its heart is the offset rotary press situated in a hall of 185 metres length
and 18 metres height. At this place, about 100,000 newspaper copies as
well as third party publications etc. can be printed per hour!
