Resource Efficiency
Raw materials that show clear resource efficiency
compared to standard alternatives. Includes materials
from recycled material and by-products that
would otherwise have been regarded as waste, as
well as low-processed filler material such as chalk.
Renewable
Raw materials that are from the bio-sphere: wood
or plant material. Renewable materials are part
of the biomass CO 2
cycle and do not contribute to
global warming, as opposed to fossil-based carbon
materials such as mineral oil.
Compostable
Materials that have been shown to biodegrade
in industrial composting facilities under the
standard EN 13432. To take full advantage of
this characteristic, the end-products need to be
sorted with other bio-waste (food) for industrial
composting, which is accepted in some areas.
The local waste regulations need to be followed
or agreements made with local waste handlers.

Reducing our CO 2 footprint
In our Duni ecoecho range for serving and meal solutions products, we
use the best materials available with the goal of limiting the use of nonrenewable
resources to reduce our CO 2 footprint. As a result, we utilise and
continue to seek innovative materials that have one or more sustainable
feature such as being renewable, recycled or compostable.
Plants instead of plastics
Duni ecoecho is available in our serving and meal solutions range.
Products like glasses and coffee cups are manufactured using PLA, a plastic
made of cornstarch, which is compostable in industrial facilities. PLA is clear
and presents fresh food in its best light. Duni fibre plates are made of surplus
fibres of sugarcane.
