Description
Ausenco was the EPCM
contractor for design,
construction and
commissioning of a
12 Mt/y Phu Kham copper
concentrator, located
approximately 100 km
north-east of the Laos
capital, Vientiane.
We undertook engineering,
procurement and construction
management, and developed
process facilities for
the project.
Project highlights included:
• more than three million
man-hours worked without
a lost-time incident
• project completed on
schedule and on budget
• successful execution of
logistics and freight tasks
throughout monsoonal
wet season.

Description
Lumwana is the largest copper
project of its kind in Africa.
Ausenco’s scope included the
design, supply, construction
and commissioning of a
20 Mt/y copper concentrator,
including associated
on-site and off-site
infrastructure, water and
waste-management systems,
dams, diversion channels,
and associated facilities.
Project highlights included:
• the work was completed
on a lump sum EPC basis
• largest single financing
project in Zambian history
• logistics and freight
executed without delay and
procurement networks
successfully established
in South Africa
• peak construction
workforce of 2,300, with
90% local Zambian labour.

Description
The 76,000 t/d Constancia
Copper Project is located in
the Andes at approximately
4,000 m elevation, south
of Cusco and north-east
of Arequipa.
The $1.5 billion project is
currently under construction.
Ausenco is providing EPCM
services for the concentrator
including processes for both
copper and molybdenum
concentrate production.
The plant represents a costeffective
solution to South
American concentrator design.
