<strong>Meet</strong> <strong>the</strong> Superintendent<br />
Dr. Nancy Graham has been<br />
serving as a school or District<br />
administrator since 1992. She<br />
began her work with middle<br />
<strong>and</strong> high school students in<br />
1979 as a Campus Life Director<br />
in Indianapolis. It was in 1983<br />
that she stepped into her first<br />
classroom as an English teacher<br />
in Broward County, where she<br />
grew up as a product of <strong>the</strong><br />
public school system <strong>the</strong>re. Dr.<br />
Graham moved to Lee County<br />
in 1987 teaching at Fort Myers<br />
High School until <strong>the</strong> start of her tenure as an administrator at Gulf<br />
Middle School in 1992.<br />
Since that time, Dr. Graham has served in nearly every aspect<br />
of school <strong>and</strong> District leadership working as a principal in<br />
Lee, Charlotte, <strong>and</strong> Collier Counties <strong>and</strong> as a District leader in<br />
Secondary Operations <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> Executive Director for Quality,<br />
Continuous Improvement <strong>and</strong> Planning. Recognized by Lee<br />
County School Counselors as <strong>the</strong> Principal of <strong>the</strong> Year <strong>and</strong> as<br />
<strong>the</strong> High School Principal of <strong>the</strong> Year by <strong>the</strong> School District, Dr.<br />
Graham has a long history of excellence in service to <strong>the</strong> schools<br />
<strong>and</strong> Districts where she has worked. Returning to Lee County as its<br />
Superintendent in June 2013, Dr. Graham acknowledges that it is<br />
both a “privilege <strong>and</strong> an awesome responsibility” to lead <strong>the</strong> District<br />
where she “grew up professionally.”<br />
Dr. Graham is focused on leading <strong>the</strong> School District to “stardom”<br />
as she works with staff <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> community to become superstars;<br />
that is, people who make <strong>the</strong>ir world better. Student achievement<br />
<strong>and</strong> development are at <strong>the</strong> forefront of her work.<br />
Dr. Graham earned her bachelor’s degree in English/Secondary<br />
Education from Taylor University <strong>and</strong> Master’s <strong>and</strong> Doctorate in<br />
Educational Leadership from <strong>the</strong> University of South Florida. In<br />
addition, Dr. Graham spent time at Harvard University studying<br />
research related to leading improvement in large school systems. She<br />
has a Black Belt in Six Sigma <strong>and</strong> is trained in strategic planning<br />
<strong>and</strong> Sterling Quality. Dr. Graham is committed to making decisions<br />
based on data <strong>and</strong> in <strong>the</strong> best interest of <strong>the</strong> children in Lee<br />
County’s schools.
