PART A<br />
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR PP-FRP TANKS<br />
1. Item: Polypropylene (PP) Tanks reinforced with FRP – agitated and nonagitated<br />
with necessary supports.<br />
2. Description: Preparation of fabrication drawings, mechanical design of<br />
tanks and supports, design of agitator, material procurement,<br />
fabrication, inspection & testing and supply of agitated and non-agitated<br />
PP-FRP tanks with necessary supports.<br />
3. Desired Features:<br />
The list of the tanks and their details are as indicated in Table 1 and<br />
Table 2. (Typical sketches enclosed.)<br />
A) Design and Construction Features of Tanks :<br />
a) Code for design: BS 4994<br />
b) Description: Vertical, cylindrical, flat top and conical/flat bottom<br />
tanks with supported agitator for some tanks and without agitators<br />
for balance tanks.<br />
c) Material of Construction:<br />
i) Vessel body, top cover, bottom, nozzles & flanges: PP reinforced<br />
with FRP<br />
ii) Agitator shaft : MS lined with PP<br />
iii) Impeller: PP<br />
iv) Gaskets: 3mm thick PTFE.<br />
v) Counter Flanges: HDPE<br />
vi) Bolts and nuts: SA 193 Gr. B8 & SA 194 Gr. 8<br />
vii) Supports: MS lined with FRP.

d) Mechanical Design of the tanks shall be carried out and submitted<br />
by the vendor. The thickness of the tanks shall be calculated by the<br />
vendor. In any case, the thickness of the tanks shall not be less than<br />
the values specified below :<br />
• PP lining: 3 mm<br />
• Laminate thickness: 5 mm<br />
e) Top cover shall be bolted to the vessel as shown in the drawings.<br />
Gasket and fasteners for top cover shall be supplied by vendor.<br />
f) Flanges: Flanges shall be class 150 as per ANSI B16.5<br />
g) Nozzles:<br />
• Number and size of nozzles shall be as indicated in the<br />
drawings of the tanks. Nozzles shall be designed as per BS<br />
4994.<br />
• Nozzles for instrumentation shown in the drawings are only<br />
indicative and the exact size and location shall be finalized<br />
prior to approval of fabrication drawings.<br />
• Reinforcement calculations for the nozzles shall be submitted<br />
by the vendor. Stiffeners shall be provided as per requirement.<br />
• Matching blind flanges, gaskets and fasteners for all nozzles<br />
shall be supplied by vendor.<br />
h) Necessary baffles for agitator vessels shall be provided suitably by<br />
the vendor.<br />
i) Supports: Lug supports shall be used for tanks with capacity upto<br />
1kl. For 2, 3 and 5 kl tanks, ring type supports shall be used. Design<br />
details to be submitted by the vendor.<br />
j) Lifting lugs: Lifting lugs shall be provided suitably on top cover and<br />
cylindrical shells for all the tanks.<br />
k) Fabrication: Hand layup or open contact molding may be adopted.<br />
Vendor to specify the details of fabrication procedure followed.<br />
l) FRP Material: FRP material used shall be the following (or any other<br />
superior material which shall be quoted separately) unless other wise<br />
mentioned specifically as different.<br />

• Woven roving - Glass E Type, 610 g/m2<br />
• Surface Veil – C Veil<br />
• Resin to Glass Ratio : Resin shall be minimum 65%<br />
No fillers shall be used in FRP.<br />
B) Agitator Details:<br />
a) Agitator of reputed make (Remi/Standard Engineer/Fibre & Fibre<br />
Products/ Thermotech Engineering) complete with drive motor ,<br />
reduction unit and other accessories.<br />
b) Design of agitator including strength calculations and critical speed<br />
calculations shall be submitted by the vendor. Tenderer, if required, may<br />
collect test samples of process fluids from <strong>NFC</strong> Hyderabad to generate<br />
necessary data for design of the agitator and its motor rating.<br />
Performance guarantee for the agitator under actual conditions has to be<br />
demonstrated by the vendor.<br />
c) Type of impeller: Pitched Blade Turbine<br />
d) Impeller Diameter: ~ 25% of tank diameter. Details to be confirmed by<br />
the vendor<br />
e) Speed of agitator: 150 rpm for clear liquids and 200 rpm for slurries.<br />
Details to be confirmed by the vendor.<br />
f) Type of mounting: Horizontal as shown in sketch<br />
g) Type of seal: Mechanical seal of reputed make (Burgman/ Flowserve/<br />
John Crane/ Eagle Poonawal)<br />
h) Type of installation: Agitator shall be installed at the centre of the top<br />
cover.<br />
i) Supports: The agitator assembly along with drive unit shall be<br />
supported on the tank supports for ring type supports as indiacted in<br />
the drawing (Drg No. 26616-39-00-PRJ-0060). Separate support for<br />
agitator assembly shall be provided as indicated in the drawing (Drg No.<br />
26616-39-00-PRJ-0011) for other tanks. Design calculations and details<br />
of the agitator support to be submitted by the vendor.

j) Drive unit: Reputed make (NGEF/KIRLOSKAR/SIMENS) spark proof, 3<br />
phases, motor of suitable KW and speed. KW, speed, frame size, voltage<br />
shall be stated in the offer. Flame proof motors with IP 65 protection<br />
shall be provided where necessary as shown in the data sheets.<br />
k) Drive connection: Gear driven<br />
l) Speed Reduction Unit: Gear Assembly<br />
m) Speed Reduction Ratio: To be worked out by the vendor<br />
n) Drive motor and gear box shall be mounted on common base plate.<br />
o) Coupling:<br />
i) Agitator shaft and gear box output shaft shall be coupled through<br />
a rigid coupling with split ring locking arrangement in order to<br />
ensure that the agitator shaft doesn’t fall into the vessel during<br />
the operation.<br />

4. Scope of Supply:<br />
i) Preparation of fabrication drawings, mechanical design of tanks and<br />
supports, design of agitator, material procurement, fabrication,<br />
inspection & testing, and supply of agitated and non-agitated PP-FRP<br />
tanks with necessary supports.<br />
ii) Agitator assembly as mentioned under item (B) above complete with<br />
drive motor, reduction unit, mechanical sealing arrangement and<br />
complete mounting arrangement, foundation bolts and nuts.<br />
iii) Spares as indicated in 3 (C) of Part-A.<br />
iv) Consumable materials required for initial filling, start-up and<br />
commissioning of agitators.<br />
5. Inspection and testing<br />
All the equipment shall be inspected and tested at the supplier’s works<br />
before delivery. All the tests shall be arranged by the supplier free of cost at<br />
his works.<br />
Testing shall be carried out as per BS: 4994 standard.<br />
• Dimensional check. All dimensions shall be as per approved drawing.<br />
• For the testing of the laminate the following testing methods shall be<br />
adopted:<br />
a) Surface hardness test (barcol test). The laminate should have a<br />
surface hardness of 90% of resin manufacturer’s specified minimum<br />
value. The testing to be done in a government recognized laboratory<br />
and the test report to be submitted at the time of inspection.<br />
b) Manufacturers test certificates shall be produced for the quality<br />
assurance of the resins and glass. The testing shall be done in a<br />
recognized laboratory and the test report to be submitted at the time<br />
of inspection.<br />
• Hydrostatic test shall be conducted.<br />
• Agitator performance shall be demonstrated by the supplier at site for<br />
speed, power consumption and efficiency.

PART-B<br />
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS<br />
1. Unit Price: The vendor shall quote the unit price for the equipment<br />
including accessories as indicated in Part-A (Clause 3.0) for delivery<br />
to <strong>NFC</strong> stores. Packing & Forwarding, Delivery charges, Taxes and<br />
duties, if any shall be clearly mentioned.<br />
2. Evaluation: This is a two part tender, so technical and financial offer<br />
shall be submitted separately. Financial bid of the technically<br />
qualified parties will be opened after evaluation of the technical bid.<br />
Comparative statement shall be prepared combining all the items/<br />
equipments included in the scope of work. Total cost including all<br />
the items/ equipment as indicated in the scope of work shall be<br />
calculated and the technically qualified collective lowest offer will be<br />
considered for placing the order.<br />
3. Design and Fabrication drawings: The successful vendor shall<br />
submit all the detailed design calculations and the fabrication<br />
drawings for the equipment and accessories within 15 days from the<br />
date of receipt of the firm order. The actual fabrication shall be<br />
started only after the receipt of approved fabrication drawings from<br />
the users.<br />
4. GA Drawings: The vendor shall submit GA drawing of agitators<br />
showing the dimensions of various parts and material of<br />
construction along with their quotation.<br />
5. Marking: The tanks shall be marked with year of manufacture,<br />
capacity and tag number. All the other major parts shall be marked<br />
with make and model.<br />
6. Material test certificates: The vendor shall provide material test<br />
certificates for all materials from approved laboratory only, for all the<br />
materials used in fabrication of the equipment and accessories.<br />
7. Vendor Information: Vendors are requested to give details of the<br />
similar types of jobs executed by them with Purchase order copies.<br />
Vendors shall submit other details viz, fabrication procedures, lining<br />
facilities, sub-contractors if any, facilities available for inspection &<br />
testing etc. The vendor may suggest for any alternative materials and<br />
also quote for the alternating materials. The vendor shall mention the<br />
facilities available at their works for inspection and testing of the<br />
items.<br />
8. Validity: The offer shall be valid for a minimum period of 120 days.

9. Guarantee: The vendor shall give Performance guarantee for<br />
capacity, power consumption and efficiency and guarantee that the<br />
pumps are free from defects of design, materials and<br />
workmanship/manufacturing, for at least 12 months from the date<br />
of commissioning or 24 months from the date of supply, which ever<br />
is earlier.<br />
10. Delivery Period: Delivery period is maximum 12 weeks from the<br />
date of receipt of purchase order.<br />
11. Delivery: The items shall be delivered to <strong>NFC</strong> stores. The items shall<br />
be suitably packed so as to avoid any damage during transportation.<br />
It shall be delivered at site in good condition<br />
12. Final Drawings and Documents: 3 Nos. of final<br />
drawings/documents along with a soft copy of such approved<br />
drawings/documents shall be submitted by the successful vendor.<br />
13. Painting: All the external parts of the equipment including<br />
structural parts and accessories shall be painted with two coats of<br />
epoxy paint after one coat of epoxy primer and proper surface<br />

14. Inspection & Testing: The equipment and accessories shall be<br />
inspected and tested at the supplier’s works before delivery as<br />
mentioned in Part-A. Inspection & Testing involves visual inspection,<br />
dimension checking, hydrostatic test for leak proofness and spark<br />
test for continuity. The equipment will be accepted only after passing<br />
all above tests satisfactorily.<br />
Note to the Vendor:<br />
a) Only offers of Fabricators with proven technology for design and<br />
fabrication of such items will be considered for evaluation.<br />
b) The quotation should be complete in all respects ( with motors,<br />
agitators, accessories and spares). Incomplete quotations are likely<br />
to be rejected.
