Successful 2013 Railtex for Knorr-Bremse
Knorr-Bremse has experienced a successful Railtex 2013 with a busy stand throughout the three
days of the UK’s premium rail industry show.
The Exhibition which took place from 30 April 2013 to 2 May 2013 experienced a 19% increase
in visitor numbers from 2011 with over 8,000 visitors and 2,500 exhibitions attending the event
from a total of 49 countries.
There was significant interest in the new technology presented from around the Knorr-Bremse
Rail Group. This included the Knorr-Bremse LEADER Driver Assistant System, currently being
installed into the DMU fleets operating with Southern and London Midland and operated by Go-
Ahead.
The new Knorr-Bremse Z-300 Condition Based Maintenance system was given its world launch
on the stand this year and the Knorr-Bremse Group’s RAILSERVICES brand was re-launched
with a fresh, new identity. RAILSERVICES provides flexible support, maintenance, service and
original parts for all Knorr-Bremse systems as well as upgrades which enhance performance.
The stand was visited by the The Right Honorable Simon Burns MP, Minister of State for
Transport, who was given a tour by Member of the Knorr-Bremse Executive Board for Rail
Vehicle Systems, Rolf Härdi and Knorr-Bremse UK Managing Director, Paul Goodhand who
showed Mr Burns a number of innovative technology solutions from Knorr-Bremse. These
included the UK developed and manufactured EP1001 and EP2002 mechatronic brake control
systems, a train simulator unit from Sydac and an obstacle detection system for train doors
designed especially for easy retrofitting from IFE.
Marketing and Communications Manager at Knorr-Bremse, Nick Brailey commented, “The
Railtex exhibition is an important showcase opportunity for Knorr-Bremse in the UK both for our
local audience and for the many visitors who come from all over the world for this event. We had
a great deal of interest in our new, innovative Group systems which are designed to offer high
levels of safety, reliability and performance combined with lower life cycle costs.”
