‣ The Minutes were reviewed from the last meeting and were accepted by consensus
STUDENT COUNCIL’S REPORT:

‣ Turn Up The Volume – Valentine’s Day event
Every student had their names printed on arrows and posted up on the Student Council window,
200 heart cookies were sold for this event, dating game a success
‣ Joan Unplugged
A request for performers then even Student Council will also perform

TREASURER’S REPORT:

‣ Last fiscal year’s Catholic School Council records (2011 / 2012) have been given to the school as
Finance Audit is scheduled on March 22, 2013
‣ Catholic School Council Financial Plan as of March 31, 2013 is due to the Board on April 30, 2013
‣ SAF Allocation Balance is $6,548.05 from the $17,180 disbursed
‣ Catholic School Council Admin Balance is $(90.72)
‣ ProGrant Balance is $293.20
‣ Golf Balance remains unchanged at $1,226.98

ENGLISH DEPARTMENT’S PRESENTATION:

‣ Alessandra Caschera touched on the subject of how social media and technology can prove to have a
positive use in our classrooms:
Twitter
We are the first school to offer this service which is very informative keeping the students
connected with the school
675 followers and 2,500 tweets with works out to 7 per day
It is also a feed for all the announcements happening at our school this can be goggled
Edmodo
Program like Facebook which can be accessed by everyone
Teachers can post notes regarding their class and if anything is expected by the students e.g.
homework, assignments
Reading Ahead Program
Use the best of the web to improve reading and writing for students
This was implemented in September 2011 to the Grade 10 Applied students and great for
OSSLT program has increased success rate
No After-school programs for the learning strategies
Room 210
Has implemented 1 computer per student – fully equipped with printer, headphones and
SmartBoard
Math has 5 SmartBoards and English has 3 SmartBoards
Cafeteria
Has LCD projector which runs CP24 and it runs the twitter messages from the school on the
board as well – also another Monitor that does the same located in the entrance way in front of
the Library – not all the teachers are fully using this too – slowly in more use
5 Year Plan
This years focus LCD with laptops, Guidance, Religion, Canada & World Studies laptops to
be purchased with the allocated Council funding
Next school year attendance computer to be put into each classroom so the kids can sign in

Continue to focus on Saint Joan of Arc, our Patron Saint
Project for this year to complete Station of The Cross in the Chapel

special schedule – parents letter will forthcoming – graduation requirements must pass this test in
order to graduate – we will continue to focus on applied learners

Staff focus on “Talking about Math”

Invitation to all parents of graduating students

Uniforms – will be mandatory that the students wear the pants that have the embroidered Saint
Joan of Arc initials near knee. Parents can bring current un-initialed pants to Halpern’s to be
embroidered free of charge between June and August 2013

NEW – On-line signup the second week of April – instruction sheet to go out to all parents –
interviews are 5 minute intervals
‣ Course Selection for 2013 – 2014 School Year
Verification sheets distributed in April – this allows students to verify the courses they have
chosen

‣ Remaining time was allocated to completing the Community School Profile as a group
‣ Antonella Rubino dismissed herself so that the Catholic School Council could complete it for
submission to the Board by March 28, 2013
