Church leaders <strong>in</strong> Nigeria say hundreds of<br />
thousands of Adventists will be disenfranchised<br />
if the government holds April’s presidential<br />
election on a Saturday. The president of the<br />
Eastern Nigeria Union said Adventists won’t<br />
vote on Sabbath and has threatened to take the<br />

Can’t stop the music<br />
Legendary gospel s<strong>in</strong>ger George Beverly Shea,<br />
102, has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement<br />
Grammy award for his contribution to popular<br />
music. Shea is the oldest person ever to receive<br />
a Grammy and said he was “grateful for the<br />
countless opportunities around the world to<br />

After an Adventist congregation <strong>in</strong> the<br />
central Asian republic of Azerbaijan was<br />
raided by police, <strong>church</strong> leaders have met<br />
with government representatives to look for<br />
solutions. Vasiliy Stolyar (vice-president, Euro-<br />
Asia Division) said help had been promised to<br />
f<strong>in</strong>ally register the Adventist Church after eight<br />
