SOCCER TENNIS TOURNAMENT
INFORMATION & RULES
Application Deadline – In order for an application to be accepted, payment MUST be
sent with the application.
Oklahoma City – application deadline is Wednesday, January 2, 2008
Tulsa – application deadline is Tuesday, January 15, 2008

Divisions – Boys & Girls
• Under 12
• Under 14
• Under 16
• Under 19
• College (current college payers)
• Open (any age)
Entry Fee - $50.00 per team ***3 game minimum
• All divisions will play 2 v 2. Teams may have 2 or 3
players on the roster.
• Co-Ed teams are allowed but will play in the Boys’
division.
• If a team is made up of players from different age groups,
the team will play in the division of the oldest player.
Court size – Approximately 9 yards wide x 14 yards long that will be divided by a net.
(each side will be approximately 9 yards wide by 7 yards long). The net
is approximate height of a tennis net.
Games – Teams will play best two out of three games.
Each game will be played to 15 – must win by 2 points.
Rally scoring – this means that a point will be scored on every serve no matter
who serves – either team can win the point. The team that wins the last point,
will serve next.

Rules of Competition-
• To begin the match, there will be a coin toss. Winner of the coin toss will get the
first serve and losing team will choose side. Teams will change sides after each
game.
• Serving - to serve the ball, serving team will have the server stand behind the
base-line. Server will then drop the ball and let it bounce prior to striking the ball.
The server may not step in front of the line during the serve. Once the ball
bounces, the server make kick the ball across the net to the opposing team. If the
ball hits the net and does not go over OR hits the net and goes out of bounds, a
point will be awarded to the other team and they will get the next serve. If the
ball touches the net and goes over the net IN the court – there will be a re-serve
(just like tennis). This is the only time a server would get a second serve.
• Out of Bounds – If the ball bounces IN the boundaries or ON the boundary line,
the ball is considered IN. If the ball lands COMPLETELY OUTSIDE of the
boundary line, the ball will be called out and a point is scored.
• Bounce Rule - upon a ball crossing over the net, players may play the ball
directly out of the air OR allow the ball to bounce. If the players play the ball out
of the air, they will NOT be allowed to let the ball bounce prior to kicking the ball
back over the net. If players allow the ball to bounce, they then must play the ball
and attempt to get it back over the net without the ball touching the ground again.
• Ball Size
o Under 12 – size 4
o Under 14 & up (all other divisions) – size 5
• Touch Limits (hands are NOT allowed in the game except when serving).
o Under 12 – Players make take as many touches as they like to get the ball
back over. They must still follow the rules of the ball touching the floor
(one bounce prior to touching OR if they play the ball directly out of the
air then they are not allowed a bounce). Players may pass the ball
between team mates as many times as needed in order to get the ball over
the net while observing the bounce rule.
o Under 14 – Players may take up to three (3) touches each and have up to
two (2) passes per side while observing the bounce rule.
o Under 16, Under 19, College and Open – Each player will only have
two (2) touches with no more than two (2) passes prior to getting the ball
back over the net.

to playing it back over the net or to a team mate.
• Passes are when the member of one team plays the ball to
the other member of his team without playing the ball over
the net.
• Fouls
o Hands may NOT be used when playing. The only time hands may be used
is when a player is holding the ball getting ready to serve. Once the ball
has been dropped to serve, players may not use their hands again until a
point is scored. If the court judge feels that a player has used his/her
hands, a foul will be called and the opposing team will win a point and the
serve.
o Touching the net – players will not be able to touch the net. If a player
touches the net or runs in to the net, the court judge CAN call a foul and
award a point and the serve to the other team.
o Profanity – Absolutely NO profanity will be allowed. If a player uses
profanity, they can be warned. If the problem persists, then the court
judge can terminate the game and award a victory to the other team.
o If a player takes too many touches or if a team makes too many passes
prior to getting the ball over the net, a point and serve will be awarded for
the opposing team. *See division rules for limits
o All spectators and participants will be required to follow any additional
rules and restrictions that the host site has.
Game Times - Games will be scheduled in an order. When a court opens, the next game
on the schedule will begin. Any team that is not present within 5 minutes of being called
to the court will forfeit the game. Since we will have multiple courts playing, the exact
time a game will start will not be known – it will depend on how many games there are
before your game and how long each game lasts.
Both tournaments will take place on gymnasium floors. Players will be required to wear
non-marking sole shoes.
No shin guards are required.
Winners of each division will be invited to the OSA Workshop to compete for a State
Championship on Saturday, February 2, 2008.

Any matters not provided for shall be determined by the Tournament
Director, whose decision will be final.

(405) 946-0703 for tournament information. **Remember the tournament will be
held indoors so cold, wind or rain will not affect the tournament. ONLY if there
were bad driving conditions would there be any concerns.
