<strong>What</strong> <strong>are</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Qualifications</strong>?<br />

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in<br />

petroleum engineering or a closely related field.<br />

Duties will be a blend of teaching and research as<br />

assigned by <strong>the</strong> Chair of <strong>the</strong> Petroleum Engineering<br />

Department. A passion for teaching undergraduate<br />

petroleum engineering courses and for performing<br />

research is necessary. Research <strong>are</strong>as <strong>are</strong> open but<br />

resources <strong>are</strong> currently available for those working in<br />

reservoir engineering, petrophysical and<br />

geomechanical research on <strong>the</strong> Bakken Formation<br />

and <strong>the</strong> recovery of geo<strong>the</strong>rmal energy from<br />

petroleum-produced water.<br />

<strong>What</strong> is <strong>the</strong> UND Petroleum<br />

Engineering Department?<br />

The UND Petroleum Engineering Department is<br />

meeting <strong>the</strong> growing needs for Petroleum<br />

Engineers regionally, nationally and<br />

internationally a Petroleum Engineering<br />

department was recently initiated within <strong>the</strong><br />

College of Engineering and Mines. This<br />

program builds on <strong>the</strong> expertise, facilities, and<br />

research programs developed in <strong>the</strong> College of<br />

Engineering and Mines. UND has a long history<br />

of educating students for c<strong>are</strong>ers in <strong>the</strong><br />

petroleum industry and performing research<br />

on conventional and unconventional energy<br />

reserves and extraction technologies. The<br />

vision of <strong>the</strong> Petroleum Engineering program is<br />

to educate undergraduates so that, upon<br />

graduation <strong>the</strong>y <strong>are</strong> prep<strong>are</strong>d to compete for<br />

entry level positions in <strong>the</strong> petroleum and<br />

o<strong>the</strong>r related industries or government<br />

agencies and for advanced petroleum-related<br />

studies in graduate school.<br />

Who <strong>are</strong> we looking for?<br />

We <strong>are</strong> seeking candidates who have <strong>the</strong> ability to:<br />

• Educate future generations of Petroleum Engineers<br />

• Perform research and service that contributes to<br />

reliable and affordable energy production and<br />

environmental protection.<br />

• The person(s) hired for this position will play a<br />

crucial role in meeting <strong>the</strong> objectives of <strong>the</strong> new<br />

Petroleum Engineering Program.<br />

• Candidates with a background and interest in<br />

reservoir and production engineering <strong>are</strong><br />

encouraged to apply.<br />
