FROM THE
ARTISTIC/MANAGING DIRECTOR…
Welcome.
Thanks for attending “The Doofus Doolittle Show” as a part
of our 30th anniversary season. Although ACT utilizes local
actors and technicians to produce most of the productions
seen at the Capitol Theatre, it is important to have a variety of
productions and bring in touring shows as well. Over the years
we have had many different productions from many different
companies. They all add to the local entertainment and educational experiences of
our volunteers and audience.
We are pleased to have the professional talents of Randy Newman, from Branson,
MO, as “Doofus Doolittle” here at the Capitol.
Our next production, “Eleemosynary” by Lee Blessing, will be in August.
El-emos-y-nar-y: (e-li-mä-s -ner-e) adj.
1) Of, relating to, or dependent on charity
2) Contributed as an act of charity; gratuitous
The show involves three generations of women. Dorothea, an admitted New Age
eccentric, her middle-aged daughter, Artie, and Artie’s teenage daughter Echo. The
show is a poignant and mature look at the generational family relationships of the
three women. We are in the process of casting and scheduling before we announce
the cast and August production dates.
If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to attend any of the Storybook Land Theatre
presentations at the castle, you have all of July and the first week in August to take
advantage of the productions. A new show is produced every week and performs
Sundays at 5 p.m., Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. ACT’s
Young People’s Theatre works with the Aberdeen Parks, Recreation and Forestry
department to bring you these fun summer productions. Brian Schultz, ACT’s
education director, directs the cast of six, all of whom have come through ACT’s
Young People’s Theatre program.
Hope the rest of your summer goes well. Thanks again for attending our 30th
anniversary season.
