“Drawing on the rich canon of
black literature worldwide, The
Black Rep provides platforms for
theatre, dance, and other creative
expressions from an African
American perspective making
it a unique and valuable part
of St. Louis’ theatre landscape.
Funding support from the Arts
and Education Council helps
ensure a diverse group of actors,
designers, directors, and
technicians are able to practice
their crafts in an environment
dedicated to black theatre.”

“The support of the Arts and
Education Council has played
a crucial role in the growth of
St. Louis ArtWorks. In 2006 we
moved into an exciting new home
here at the Centene Center for
Arts and Education equipped
with computers and furniture
that helped us launch our graphic
design business Boomerang
Press. Since that time the Arts
and Education Council has been
supportive with annual grants
that helped build the capacity
of our staffing and commissions
that have helped provide salaries
for the youth in our programs. We
are recognized as the region’s
most unique job training program
in the arts and as a leader in
teaching youth the ‘business of
art’ accomplishing this by a focus
on community collaborations.”
