Strategies for Selected Crops: Coffee
The Revitalization Plan for the Coffee Industry called for the
following:
1. Sweeping changes in the areas of licensing and
deregulation, marketing, pricing, financing and
management of the industry
2. Streamlining of procurement, drying and finishing
3. Initiatives including appointment of a new board to
address:
– Improved quality control,
– Separation and strengthening of the regulatory and commercial aspects,
– Rationalization of the collection and processing functions, and
– Divestment of coffee farms owned by the Board.
