Activities and More
Did you know that there are 48 Lions clubs and 3 Leo
clubs in our district? Every club wants to see their club
activities and events published in the Iowa Lion each time
they have an event. I have two pages in The Iowa Lion
to include all of these activities plus other information
needing to be conveyed to members and clubs. In order
to fill in the blanks, I have been sending the Mini-Tid-
Bits e-mails to all of the clubs and cabinet officers. The
Tid-Bits cover what is happening, important dates and
activities, plus announces activities
not being published in The Iowa Lion.
Also, we, the district governors, are
working on a deadline date of the
15 th of each month, meaning that
The Iowa Lion you receive the first
week of each month has been written
by the district governors and others
contributing to the Iowa Lions nearly
three weeks prior. So, timing is also
essential; don’t send me information
regarding a project which will be the
first week of the next month after the
10 th of the previous month because it
will probably be too late.
Are you sending your activity
reports to LCI? I can answer that.
Some of you are, most of you are not;
some of you are sending them to me
and not to LCI. I do not forward them
to LCI, it’s your club secretary’s job
to file the activity report, not mine.
Last month 45 clubs did not send
activity reports to LCI and since July
1 st there have been 33 clubs who have
not sent any activity reports. Are you
doing anything; if so – how does LCI
or I know? Please file activity reports
monthly even if you have no activities;
send the report to LCI and copies to
me.

• The Janesville Lions donated $215 toward the
Janesville Veterans Memorial fund, $250 toward
Janesville Fireworks and $250 to Janesville Days
• The Balltown Lions Club donated $300 toward
Family Hardship
• Dyersville held a Schwan’s Ice Cream Sales
fundraiser for their little league program with
$890 raised, plus they donated another $400 for
tournament trophies.
• The Cedar Valley Lions began this year’s
KidSight screenings with the new digital camera
with the anticipation of screening more children.
In October the club, along with other community
organizations, performed a screening at a local
nursery during a fall festival.
• The Cresco Lions Club voted to donate to the new
McGregor Clan Lions Club and to also contribute
$200 to the Cresco Fitness Center for the use of the
facility as their meeting place.
Lions Clubs of Benton County held their first zone meeting; members from Belle
Plaine, Blairstown, Garrison, Newhall, Van Horne, Urbana and Vinton attended.
Each club reported on recent activities. Guest speakers were Past District
Governor Nancy Swanson, who is currently serving as Iowa Lions Foundation
Trustee, and Bill Tjaden, representing the Iowa Lions Youth Exchange Program.
