4th MJM Independence Cup
football tournament begins
PASIGHAT, July 28:
The much awaited 4th edition of Matmur
Jamoh Memorial Independence Cup
football tournament got started at the
Pasighat Sports Complex (General
Ground) today amidst huge soccer
lovers raising the temperature on the
ground.
The Tournament is being organized
by the East Siang District Football
Association in collaboration with
Department of Sports and Youth Affairs
to pay tribute to the gallant warrior
Matmur Jamoh. The tournament
since its inception has received an
overwhelming response from all
quarters with 32 teams participating
from the district and the final match will
be played on August 15 next.
The inaugural match was played
between United Sika Tode (UST) and
Regeneration team and ended with 4-2
adding much excitement, leaving the
spectators spellbound. The first half

HAWAI, July 31:
A one day district level art & cultural
day was organized at Hawai, Anjaw
district on July 22 last under the aegis
of Department of Art & Culture with
the theme “Loss of culture Loss of
identity”.
The event was inaugurated by L.
Pul, Ex-ZPM.
Speaking on the occasion, the
chief guest S. Ngi, DCC(I) President
emphasised on the preservation
of Mishmi culture and advised the
young generation to incorporate
the traditional values and custom in
modern era and not to diverge from
it.
The District Art & Culture officer,
S. Mam in his speech spoke on
preservation of local culture and
tradition in present context of
globalization.

TEZU, August 1:
Ms. Rige Shiba of Tezu, now a curator
at HH Maharaja Sir Jiwaji Rao Scindia
Museum, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh,
has been selected to the participate in
a 6 (six) weeks International Training
Programme (ITP) for Museum
Professionals at the renowned British
Museum from Aug 12, 2013.
Ms Shiba is one of 2 member team
representing India in this prestigious
programme, along with 26 other
museum professionals from countries
around the world like Brazil, China,
Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Ghana, Turkey,
Uganda, Kenya, Libya, Mexico,
Lebanon, Sudan, South Africa, UAE,
Tanzania, and Palestine.
Shiba is the first Arunachalee to
be selected for this rare honour and
has qualified after a tough selection
procedure by a committee of British
Museum curators and experts.

Action against meat sellers

2nd NE Regional Consumer
Convention held

The 2nd North Eastern Regional
Consumer Convention organized
by the Consumer Coordination
Council, New Delhi in cooperation
with Federation of North Eastern
Consumer Organizations (FONECO)
and All Arunachal Pradesh Consumer
Association (AAPCA) with support

Affairs ,Govt. of India was held at
Banquet Hall, Itanagar today.

cum study tour to Darjeeling
ITANAGAR, July 30:
Five days orientation training for
fishery demonstrator on Aqua-culture
practices and their management
commenced at Fisheries Training
Centre, Emchi near Doimukh on
July 29.
This is the second batch of
Director Tea Development and Toko
Togur, Assistant Director Trade
& Commerce have successfully
completed the exposure cum study
tour to Darjeeling.
The itinerary for their tour was
highly educational and beneficial.
The team visited various tea
gardens and factories run and owned
by Self-Help Groups like Rohini
Organic Tea Garden and factory (Sona
Tea Limited), Darjeeling Organic Ekta
Society, Sukhia Pukhuri, Panbari Tea
Factory owned by Panbari Small Tea
Growers’ Society at Jalpaiguri, Tea
Factory and Garden of Nabajagaran
Small Tea Growers’ Self-Help Group,
Jalpaiguri.
The team had special interactive
meetings with the Executive Members
of Confederation of Indian Small
Tea Growers’ Association (CISTA)
and held one to one discussion
and interaction with the Executive
Members of Darjeeling Organic Ekta
Society, a Self-Help Group known for
their organic tea.
Darjeeling is one of the most
famous organic tea producing hot
spot in India and has a great demand
in the international market for its
quality and the team got to experience
and gain first hand information on
cultivation of tea.
Orientation training on Aqua-culture practices
training planned during this fish
breeding season. All together 10
fishery demonstrators from different
districts are participating.
Director of Fisheries, J Taba, while
inaugurating the training, explained
the importance of conducting such
orientation training and exhorted
upon the fishery demonstrators
to work with dedication and
commitment towards development
of aquaculture in their respective
areas. He urged them to motivate
fish farmers to diversify their
activities and to increase both fish
and fish seeds production.
