Scholarship Program 

PTA Scholarships are one-year, non-renewable awards, given to two students in each of the 5 Field 

Service Areas who are enrolling in a college or university in the FIELD OF EDUCATION or 

EDUCATION-RELATED DEGREE PROGRAM: Two Scholarship awards are: 1st Place --- $1,500.00 

and 2nd Place ---- $1,000.00. ELIGIBILITY: High School seniors graduating from an Illinois public high 

school; Upper 33% of class; Enrolling in a college or university in an education or education-related 

degree program,which may include: Librarians, Instructional Media Specialists, School Nurses, School 

Psychologists or Social Workers (all of which certification from a State Board of Education); Completed 

application postmarked on or before February 17, 2012. Application can be downloaded from 

www.illinoispta.org. or a copy can be picked up from the Guidance Office. NOTE: Failure to follow 

instructions on the application may be cause for rejecting your application.

Scholarship 

All undergraduate students who will be enrolled at UIUC through the 2012-2013 term and are committed 

to service, spirituality, and social and environmental justice are eligible to receive a renewable award of 

$3,000. Financial need and academic achievement will also be considered. Apply Online:

Citizens League 

Eligibility: Applicant must be a JACL member at either an individual or student/youth level. If not a member 

the student must join the JACL at the time of the application. Applicant must be a full-time student at an 

institution of higher learning within the United States. Must be a resident in Illinois for one year, and 

graduated from an accredited Illinois High School. Limited to two awards. Scholarship recipients must 

attend the annual scholarship luncheon to receive their awards. Scholarship guidelines and application

Abby Foundation 


The Abby Foundation is offering scholarships to women who need assistance to attend college next fall. 

The foundation is offering a $1,000 scholarship to students attending a four-year college or university, 

and $500 scholarship to those planning to attend a two-year community college. The minimum GPA 

requirement is 3.0/4.0. The due date for applications is March 1, 2012. Applications are available in the

Prospective Educator 

Scholarship Program ‐ 

Greater Northern Illinois 

Chapter 

The Greater Northern Illinois Area Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa International is offering the 2012 

Prospective Educator Scholarship to graduating seniors who plan to pursue a teaching career. The awards 

range from $500-$1000. The entire application process will be online and should be completed by March

Township Officials of 

Illinois Scholarship 

Program 

High school seniors may apply for one of seven $2,000 scholarships to be awarded by TOI this year. 

Applicants must submit the completed application (available on www.toi.org and in Township 

Perspective magazine), cover letter, an interview with a current township official, transcript of grades, 

two letters of recommendation and an essay on The Role of Township Government in Today's Society 

and in the Future. 


AMVETS Scholarships 

This program is sponsored by AMVETS Chicago Police Post 18. Every year AMVETS awards one year 

$1,000 non-renewable scholarships to current Illinois School Seniors. To gather more insight into the

Delta Sigma Theta 

Sorority, INC. 

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is an international, not-for-profit, public service organization. The Glen 

Ellyn Area Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta services Chicago's western suburbs, and our offering a 

4-year academic scholarship. This monetary award will be given to a deserving high school senior who 


will continue his or her formal education in a 4-year college or university during the 2012-2013 academic 

year. Applicants will be evaluated based upon his or her academic potential, finacial need and personal

CRCA 2012 Scholarship 

The Chicago Roofing Contractors Association will award ar least one $3,000 renewable scholarship to a 

high school senior who will enter college in September each year in the following programs – liberal arts 

and sciences, engineering, architecture or business. The scholarship recipient will be selected on the basis 

of academic performance, faculty recommendation, extracurricular activities, employment experience,

Physical & Occupational 

Therapy Majors Only 

A one-time Scholarship Monetary Award (maximum of $2,000) awarded each year to one selected 

Nominee from the recommended applications received from graduating seniors at local High School and 

local Community College students in the Fox Valley section' area, pursuing a college degree the next 

academic year at an accredited University or four-year College.The Monetary Award is sent directly to the 

Nominee’s University or College, after the Nominee is enrolled and starts attending classes. Only 

completed applications with the required supporting documents, submitted as a complete package by the 

school or community college, will be considered for scholarship review. Applications for scholarship from 


individual students are not accepted. Selection Process: Article on Quality, minimum of 

500 words on the importance of quality products and / or services to the future of our country, Volunteer

Illinois Sheriffs' 

Association Scholarship 

Awarding 105 scholarships throughout the State of Illinois to students whishing to pursue higher education 

during the 2012-2013 academic year. Applicants must be permanent Illinois residents, scholarships are to 

be utilized at institutions of higher learning within the State of Illinois, students must be enrolled as a fulltime 

student during the 2012-2013 school year (exlcuding summer session). Applications are available at

Order of AHEPA: 13th 

District Scholarship 

Foundation 

The Order of AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) is pleased to offer 22 

scholarships totaling $18,000 to qualified students of Greek descent or whose parents are members of 

AHEPA. Must be of Greek descent OR be a member of AHEPA (or have a parent who is a member of 

AHEPA). Must have a GPA of 3.0. Current Seniors are not eligible. Previous monetary winners are not

NINA: Northern Illinois 

High School Journalism 

Scholarships 

Northern Illinois High School Journalism Scholarships recognize outstanding achievement by high school 

students in the field of print and/or online journalism. Winners will receive cash scholarships from the 

Northern Illinois Newspaper Association. The scholarship awards will be presented to high school seniors 

who demonstrate the standards of honesty, integrity, attention to detail, hard work, creativity, and an 

understanding and commitment to quality community journalism. Students may be editors, writers, 

photographers, managers, marketing or advertising representatives or graphic designers at high school 

newspapers or professional news publications. All applicants should show intent to attend college as a 

journalism or communications major with an emphasis on print and/or online journalism. Students must 

attend high school within the northern Illinois region. The primary counties include Boone, Bureau, Carroll, 

Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Grundy, Henry, Jo Daviess, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Knox, Lake, LaSalle, Lee,

Joint Civic Committee of 

Italian Americans 

Women's Division JCCIA for female students: Several scholarship awards of $2,000 each to female 

students of Italian ancestry who have been accepted into college in the fall of 2012. One parent must be 

of Italian ancestry. Deadline for applications is March 15, 2012. Applications can be found in the PPS

COD, Presidential 

Scholars Award 

College of DuPage is awarding 50 full-tuition scholarships to 2012 District 502 high school graduates 

who meet the selection criteria. To be considered for the award, students must meet the following criteria: 

A weighted or unweighted high school GPA of 3.75 on a 4.0 scale (4.75/5.0) on a seventh semester high 

school transcripts or a 27 ACT composite test score; have applied for admission to College of DuPage; 

Completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is preferred. The results should be

The Marianjoy Scholarship Program will award scholarships in amounts up to $5,000. Recipients must enroll in 

school no later than the fall session following the announcement of the awards. •Scholarships are not automatically 

renewable. •Past recipients are eligible for reapplication. •Applicants may apply in subsequent years. •Scholarships 

can be awarded to a recipient up to four times. •Total money awarded cannot exceed $12,000. In order to be eligible, 

applicants to the Marianjoy Scholarship Program must be: 

•Functionally impaired or physically disabled. •A permanent resident in one of the following counties: Cook; Will; 

Kane; DuPage; McHenry; Lake; DeKalb; Kendall. •High school seniors or graduates (diploma or GED certificate), 

college undergraduates, or graduate students (post-baccalaureate). •Students who are enrolled or are planning to

The U.S. Bank Scholarship Program is available to high school seniors and college undergraduates. Forty 

$1,000 scholarships will be awarded in a random drawing. Apply online at usbank.com/scholarship. 

Program runs now through March 31, 2012. In order to be eligible for the U.S. Bank Scholarship 

Program, a student must be: A high school senior planning to enroll or a current college freshmen, 

sophomore or junior at an eligible four-year college or university participating in the U.S. Bank Student 

Loan Program, Enrolled by September 2012, A United States citizen or permanent resident alien. 

Eligible applicants can receive up to $4,000 towards their first-year's college tuition. 

Scholarships are renewable for up to four years (eight semesters) of full-time undergraduate

Project Scholarship 

Program 

The Leopold Education Project Scholarship Program seeks to provide scholarships for post-high school 

education awarded to students seeking a four year degree at an accredited college or university which will

Joint Civic Committee of Italian American's John Fischetti Scholarship to Male Students: One or two 

scholarship of $2,000 to male student of 50% Italian ancestry who is either undergraduate in journalism 

or communications/or who has been accepted into college with the intent of establishing a major in 

journalism or media communications. Applications must be submitted by April 19th. Applications can be

AITCOY 

Student Insights 


The Association of Illinois Township Committees on Youth is a statewide voice and resource for 

community-based human services agencies, which provide educational, emotional, recreational, and 

social opportunities for youth and families. AITCOY offers this award based on the following criteria: 

Applicant must demonstrate an interest and has participated in serving his or her community, have a “B” 

grade point average or above, has demonstrated leadership qualities, and has a plan to pursue college and 

major in a social science field. This education award is for $500.00. The application is available at

The 2012 Student-View Scholarship program is offering $10,000 worth of scholarships to high school 

seniors who plan to attend a four-year college/junior college or careers school. Simply log on to

Lemont Junior Woman's 

Club 

Applicants inlcude Lemont resident high school seniors and adult women returning to school. Looking for 

applicants with a history of community service, a demonstrated commitment to volunteerism, and a strong

Great Clips Scholarship 



B. Davis Scholarship 

Chicago and Northwestern Indiana area salon owners and Great Clips, Inc. are sponsoring five (5) $500 

scholarships for individuals interested in pursuing a career in cosmetology or barbering after graduation 

from high school. These scholarships can be used at any accredited cosmetology or barbering school in 

Central/Northern Illinois and Northwestern Indiana. Applications are in the PPS office. 


Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans Scholarship to male students: A $2,000 to male student of 

50% Italian ancestry who is already enrolled in an accredited college/university; or is a senior in high 

school and accepted for enrollment by an accredited college/university, and has a grade point average of 5/9/2012 

3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Application must be submitted by May 9th. Applications can be found in the
