The <strong>Diversity</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Art</strong> theme <strong>of</strong>fers<br />
another opportunity to be part <strong>of</strong> a<br />
stimulat<strong>in</strong>g pr<strong>of</strong>essional environment<br />
that showcases the diversity <strong>of</strong> artists<br />
<strong>and</strong> their practices, <strong>and</strong> the diversity <strong>of</strong><br />
art. In all their variety, the arts have the<br />
capacity to enrich the lives <strong>of</strong> everyone.<br />
Cultural <strong>and</strong> social diversity can be<br />
promoted <strong>and</strong> positively <strong>in</strong>fluenced<br />
through art.<br />
The Wednesday Morn<strong>in</strong>g Study<br />
Group is run by members <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Volunteers’ Circle <strong>of</strong> the <strong>National</strong><br />
<strong>Gallery</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Canada</strong>.<br />
Members <strong>of</strong> the Group <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>vited<br />
speakers present illustrated talks<br />
on the year’s chosen topics. There<br />
are usually two papers <strong>of</strong> forty<br />
m<strong>in</strong>utes each per session.<br />
Programs <strong>of</strong>fered by the<br />
Volunteers’ Circle <strong>in</strong>clude daytours,<br />
extended travel to major<br />
galleries <strong>and</strong> museums for<br />
Members <strong>of</strong> the NGC, other Study<br />
Groups <strong>and</strong> school outreach<br />
programs such as Vive les arts !<br />
<strong>and</strong> Look<strong>in</strong>g at Pictures.<br />

Founded <strong>in</strong> 1966, the Group has<br />
grown from half a dozen people<br />
who gathered around a table to<br />
discuss art to some 360 full<br />
members <strong>and</strong> a significant number<br />
<strong>of</strong> occasional visitors.<br />
