Open to registered Pure Bred Arabian Stallions, Mares and Geldings 4 years and over, and to be
judged as ridden horses. Novices are eligible.
The highest place previously unqualified horse in the first six can qualify and the exhibitor must
produce his/her card at the end of the class for the judge to sign.
In Hand Classes (For pure bred geldings only)
Senior: The highest placed previously unqualified TWO geldings in the first six can qualify. Cards
should be produced and signed as above.
Junior: In mixed age and mixed sex classes the highest placed pure bred gelding of each age can
qualify i.e. one 1 yr old, one 2 yr old, one 3 yr old. They must be previously unqualified and

These will qualify in the usual manner as the rules stated above .

Definition of Amateur
• Handler not to have been paid for showing or producing any horse for a third party, this includes
any remuneration either as employment, casual showing, or any in-kind benefits whatsoever.
• Horse not to have "resided" on a professional yard on show or training livery in 2012.
• Horse not to have been shown by a professional in 2012.
• Horse not to have received "regular" training from a visiting professional in 2012.
Exhibitors DO NOT have to be members of AHS to enter the Championships when qualified.
CLASSES 3-12, 14-18, 21-28, 40,41,55,56 are qualifying classes for the
British Amateur/Home Produced Championships to be held at: -

BAHPAC is a Qualifying competition open to registered PURE/ ANGLO-ARAB/PART
BRED IN-HAND and RIDDEN ARABIAN HORSES
PLEASE REMEMBER: Qualification cards (which will have been previously
applied for by the competitor from the Qualifying body) MUST be produced in the
ring. The judge is NOT ALLOWED to sign out-with the ring.
If you are unsure that you may be eligible for qualification, please clarify your
position with the ring steward PRIOR TO LEAVING THE RING, as mistakes cannot
be rectified once you have left the ring.

National Championships for Young Riders 2013
Rules for Competition
Note: the HORSE is being judged for its SUITABILITY AS A YOUNG RIDERS MOUNT, NOT the rider.
Class 28 is a qualifier for the Midland Arab Group Ltd Young Riders 2013 Championship.
Open to registered Pure, Anglo or Part Bred Arab horses/ponies suitable for & to be ridden by a
rider up to age 21 years on 1 st January in the current year. TO BE JUDGED AS A RIDING
HORSE/PONY. Horses & Ponies will not be ridden by the Judge; each will give a short individual show
and may be stripped. The highest two previously unqualified in each class will qualify.
The Final will be at the Midland Arabian Festival , Sunday 30 th June 2013. A rosette and qualifying card
sponsored by the Midland Arab Group Ltd will be presented to each qualifier. Enquires to Jacqui Pouch

RULES FOR CRABBET CLASSES (RIDDEN AND IN HAND)
AND FOR THE NATIONAL CRABBET IN HAND CHAMPIONSHIPS
RULES FOR IN HAND CRABBET CLASSES
1. To quality for entry into these classes the horse must be registered with the Arab Horse Society
and the exhibitor must send in EITHER a copy of a letter from Lindsay Thain or Caroline Sussex
confirming that the horses entered have 75%+ Crabbet breeding OR a copy of a Heritage
Certificate which shows 75% or above Crabbet breeding and issued by the Crabbet
Organisation.
2. If the Certificate states that the horse is under 75% Crabbet breeding or there is no letter the entry
will be refused and returned to the exhibitor. The percentage can be found at the bottom of the
Certificate.
3. All horses forward MUST be shown in a natural manner. The pose must be natural, i.e. one fore
leg slightly behind the other and one hind leg slightly behind the other. The head should be held
with the neck showing natural arch and curve of throat line, so that the neck is not uncomfortably
stretched or raised. The horse should be trained to stand sensibly in this position with expression of
interest in the handler. A frozen pose is unacceptable.
4. Any unnatural posing, flicking with a whip or circling when being run out, will result, at the
Judge’s discretion, in the horse being judged as though no presentation or display had been possible
and therefore penalized accordingly.
5. Whips must be no more than the length of a cane i.e. 65 cm. Halters can be modern as long as
they are comfortable for the horse.
RULES FOR RIDDEN CRABBET CLASSES
6. To qualify for entry into these classes the horse must be registered with the Arab Horse
Society and the exhibitor must send in EITHER a copy of a letter from Lindsay Thain or

RULES FOR THE IN HAND CRABBET ARABIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
1. Exhibitors for the National Crabbet Championships must enter on the AHS National Show
Schedule Entry Form AFTER they have qualified but not before.
2. Late qualifiers can enter up to the end of June 2013 by contacting Linda Nicholson at the Arab
Horse Society office. All entries will be checked by the Crabbet Organisation.
3. All horses forward MUST be shown in a natural manner. The pose must be natural, i.e. one fore
leg slightly behind the other and one hind leg slightly behind the other. The head should be held
with the neck showing natural arch and curve of throat line, so that the neck is not uncomfortably

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE NATIONAL CRABBET IN-HAND CHAMPIONSHIPS 2013
1. First and Second Prize Winners In Hand at the Crabbet Shows of 2006 and 2007. First and second
In-hand prize winners at the Welsh Crabbet Show, 2009, 2010 and 2011. First and second prize
winners in In Hand Crabbet Classes up to the end of 2008.
All horses that qualified in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 are eligible for the 2013 Championships. In
addition all horses who are invited to the 2013 Convention will automatically qualify for the 2013
Crabbet Championships.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR 2013
Qualifiers will be awarded to the first two horses unqualified in the top 4 of every Crabbet Class.
The Crabbet Organisation Committee reserve the right to withdraw their support of any show that
does not abide by these rules.
Highest Placed Member rosettes
A rosette will be presented in every class to the highest placed member of the SRGAHS.

The designated ridden warm up area is in the outside arena. The collecting area must not be used as a ridden
warm up area. There will be ring stewards to monitor this area.
For safety reasons The In-Hand classes will be in the morning and the Ridden classes will be in
the afternoon.

Class 20 Pre Novice Ridden Class
Pre Novice Ridden Class for Horses 4 yrs old and over. To be judged as a ridden horse. The judge will NOT
ride. A short individual show will be required. 4 year olds to wear ordinary snaffle bridle and bit (as BD
Rules). A Pre Novice horse is one that has not been placed first more than two times at an affiliated show.
Horses entered in Pre Novice classes may not enter Open classes at the same show. Pre Novice classes are
not qualifiers for any championships. Being placed first in a Pre Novice class does not change the Novice
status of a horse under Rule 33 of the AHS Rules for Showing.
Class 21 Q Pure Bred Novice Ridden
A novice horse is one that has not been placed 1st 3 times under saddle (prior to the start of the current
season) and or has never qualified for HOYs. Horses competing in the UK for their first season under
saddle are only deemed a novice if they have not been ridden in open ridden classes abroad.
Class 22 Q Anglo Arab/Part Bred Novice Ridden –
Open to Anglo Arab/Part Bred Arabs that has not been placed 1st 3 times under saddle (prior to the start of
the current season) and or has never qualified for HOYs. Horses competing in the UK for their first season
under saddle are only deemed a novice if they have not been ridden in open ridden classes abroad.

SASHES will be awarded 1 st to 6 th place. EVERY Entry in this class will also receive a
special Native Arabian Costume Rosette.
Rules of Entry
In the interests of safety, for ridden entries, Horses must be saddled in a suitable English saddle as
part of costume .Riders must wear suitable, safe, riding footwear.

contacted by email. Those who enter class 58, Intro B, can only go on to take part in class
59 Prelim 1.

SRGAHS Show Rules 2013
1. The Scottish Regional Group of Arabian Horse Supporters Horse Show is affiliated to the Arab
Horse Society and is conducted in accordance with the Show Rules and Regulations of this
organisation.
2. All exhibits entering the affiliated classes must be registered by the closing date for entries in the
appropriate stud book or register of the AHS and copy certificates, showing current owner and address
are required with all entry forms. Incomplete entries will be returned.
3. The Show Committee does not accept liability for any accident, death, illness or injury to
horses, owners, riders, spectators, or any other persons or property. Exhibitors must
indemnify the Show Committee against all actions, costs, claims, demands or liability arising out of
any action in which he or she may be concerned.
4. No person other than show officials and competitors are allowed in the show ring at any time unless
with permission.
5. The judge’s decision is final.
6. Depending on the number of entries received classes may be divided, amalgamated or
cancelled at the discretion of the Show Committee.

7. The Committee reserve the right to refuse entry or expel from the show, any person who does not
obey the requests of the Show Officials.
8. No entry will be accepted without the correct entry fee. Entry fees are neither refundable unless
a signed Veterinary Certificate can be produced nor transferable to another class UNDER
ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.
9. Riders must only ‘work in’ in the designated areas.
10. Dogs are the responsibility of the owner if brought to the show and must remain on a lead at
ALL times.
11. Small overpayments of Entry fees of £3.00 or less will be donated to Cancer Research.
12. Requests to delay classes/ enter the ring must be made to the Steward/Judge, not the Show Secretary
13. All entries are taken as an acceptance of the above rules and conditions and acceptance of the AHS
rules for Showing.
14. PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR No person shall be mounted on a horse on the showground
unless he/she is wearing a correctly fitting hard hat. The Arab Horse Society and SRGAHS strongly
recommends that hats conform to the standards EN1384 or PAS 015 and are correctly fitted with
chinstraps. This is compulsory for anyone under 18 and for anyone taking part in Show jumping
classes.
15. Anyone who wishes to ride in the Native Arabian Costume Class without protective headgear or
anyone who wishes to wear a Top Hat must understand that you do so at your own risk. Should you
have an accident during, or on the way to or from this class or any other class/ Championships you
take full responsibility and will not hold SRGAHS responsible in any way.

THE S.R.G.A.H.S CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS PERPETUAL TROPHY
Awarded to the Supreme Champion of the show
Trophy winners are responsible for the care of and insurance of the trophies in their care –
failure to return a trophy will result in a £50.00 penalty
All trophies must be returned one month before the show to a Committee Member at the latest.
Failure to do so will result in that competitor being banned from competing at the show and forfeiting
their entry fees. Any damaged trophies should be repaired or replaced by the winner returning it.

and a copy will be available at the secretary’s desk on the show day.

Although all due care and attention will be paid to matters of safety and Health and Safety, persons attending
the show do so at their own risk. The Scottish Regional Group of the Arab Horse Supporters accepts no
responsibility for injury or loss to persons or possessions, how so ever caused. It is strongly advised that
persons attending the show have in place personal and public liability insurance cover.
