On the first Wednesday of each month there will be a MORNING TEA
AND A CHAT for anyone who would like to come, if it is a nice day we
may even have a roll of bowls afterwards. Dates are July 3 rd , August 7 th ,
September 4 th , October 2 nd , November 6 th and December 4 th
OPENING DAY of the Mount Gambier Bowling Club is Saturday 7 th of
September, Sunday 8 th is COME AND TRY DAY so come along both days
and have some fun, do not forget to bring a friend on the Sunday.

PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
Hello to all members of the Mount Gambier bowling club, just a quick update on
current activity at the club.
Social bowls is being played on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons, names must be in by
12:30pm for a 1:00 pm start.
Any-one wanting some coaching one on one with a qualified club coach can organise
this with one of the following: Ken Smith, Rick Fallaize, Margaret Marshall, Jeff England
and Bryan Vorwerk. I am currently organising a working committee to be responsible
for the progress of the new kitchen. We are still waiting on notification of a
government grant to help with the finance of this project.
Another new project for next season is the probability of a ladies competition on
Saturdays. For this to go ahead we need the names of ladies who can’t play on Fridays
but would like to play in an organised competition on Saturday afternoons, we would
like at least 10 -12 names. Anyone in this situation will be given preference over other
club bowlers please contact Jo Sykes on 0413118671. Yours truly Ken Smith

TALE OF A SENIOR MOMENT
Several days ago as I left a meeting at a hotel; I desperately gave myself a
personal pat down. I was looking for my keys. They were not in my pockets or
my purse. A quick search in the meeting room revealed nothing. Suddenly I
realized I must have left them in the car. Frantically, I headed for the parking
lot. My husband has scolded me many times for leaving the keys in the ignition.
My theory is the ignition is the best place not to lose them. His theory is that
the car will be stolen. As I burst through the door, I came to a terrifying
conclusion. His theory was right. The parking lot was empty. I immediately
called the police. I gave them my location, confessed that I had left my keys in
the car and that it had been stolen. Then I made the most difficult call of all,
"Honey," I stammered; I always call him "honey" in times like these. "I left my
keys in the car, and it has been stolen." There was a period of silence.
I thought the call had been dropped, but then I heard his voice. He barked,
"I dropped you off!" Now it was my time to be silent. Embarrassed, I said,
"Well, come and get me." He retorted, "I was on my way, but I'll be delayed."
"Why is that?" I asked. "Because I was pulled over by the police and now have
to convince them that I didn't steal your car. Yep, it's the golden years.
