Pest and disease <strong>in</strong>festation<br />

Due to proper care (weed<strong>in</strong>g, irrigation, dra<strong>in</strong>age etc.), there was no pest <strong>in</strong>festation. However, each of the plots was <strong>in</strong>fested with Leaf blight<br />

disease dur<strong>in</strong>g vegetative stage. As the <strong>in</strong>festation was of m<strong>in</strong>imum level, crop production was not much affected.<br />

1.6 Mustard<br />

Description of plot<br />

Low kandas of Sunapur village under Jamalganj union are usually kept fallow. The village is located near the river Surma. Deposition of silt<br />

from the river each year makes the land fertile. These k<strong>in</strong>ds of lands are suitable for mustard cultivation. Three plots (each of 5 decimals) were<br />

cultivated with the BARI 11 variety of Mustard: one medium farmer (Plot 1) and two marg<strong>in</strong>al farmers (Plot 2 and 3).<br />
