In December 1965, US Pacific Command<br />

divided North <strong>Vietnam</strong> <strong>in</strong>to “route<br />

packages.” Route Pack 6 was later<br />

divided <strong>in</strong>to 6A and 6B. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong><br />

route packs were 5 and 6A. Navy packs<br />

were 2, 3, 4, and 6B. Route Pack 1, <strong>in</strong>itially<br />

assigned to <strong>the</strong> Navy, was placed<br />

under operational control of MACV <strong>in</strong><br />

April 1966.<br />

<strong>The</strong> F-100 Super Sabre performed<br />

close air support.<br />
