Large areas of glazing provide abundant natural light and transparent glass fencing provides a
transition from the park to the Centre enhancing their relationship.
Contemporary design using extensive double glazing to provide transparency, the park appears to flow into
the Centre. The public art piece, Eye Level by Julia Davis is visible inside the glass wall.
Public art works complement the design. Artist Julia Davis was selected to install her sculpture
piece Eye Level, a work that comprises a chrome-plated brass “ribbon” along the glass entry wall.
The surface of the pool, the light and movement of the pool, are reflected in the artwork.
The sculpture, Silver Screen Mermaid, was installed in the entrance to the new Annette Kellerman
Aquatic Centre.
Silver Screen Mermaid was inspired by the figure of champion swimmer, Annette Kellerman. Local
emerging artist, Mark Wotherspoon, has sculpted the shapely curves of a mermaid figure into thick
glass.
