One Flesh Ministry – Lesson 13
First Season
Like a baby which needs mothers milk all the time
(or so it seems!)
Baby bird is also a graphic example.
Set three pictures before your couples
o Baby or toddler
o Teenager
o Adult
Refer to these as you talk about the three seasons in our lives. Compare
these three seasons of our Christian life / walk. It is even better if you can
use photos of your own family.
Prepare a bowl with 18 pieces of fruit in it.
o 1 st season: walk around and offer each couple 1 piece of fruit. This
represents how easy the first season is. Not much effort on our
part, you just have to reach out and take it.
o 2 nd season: have the couples come and take a piece of fruit out of
the bowl on the table. A little harder because they
have to do the work and exert some energy.
o 3 rd season: have the couples come up and get the
platter and serve 1 more piece of fruit to each of
the other couples. Their nourishment comes only
when they serve others.
What season are we now in?
Refer to Joseph’s dream about the 7 fat cows (7 good years of crops) and
the 7 thin cows (7 years of famine) from Genesis 40.

Water tank example
Over the first and second seasons the water tank gradually fills up. It gets
full as you reach your third season. More water will try to get in but there is
no room, the water needs to pour out or it will go stagnant. It needs a tap
at the bottom of the tank to be opened so the water (Word of God) can
outflow to others and then more can flow in from the top.
Plant Vineyards
In the first season you can take the fruit easily
from the branches of a tree and possibly off
the ground as well – it is easy to get and is
indiscriminate (draw on the white board and
wipe of the fruit selected).
In the second season select particular fruit
from the tree (wipe off certain fruit as
selected). This represents being more
selective about the teaching we hear.
In the third season wipe the fruit off the tree and
draw it in a basket to share with others and to plant
more trees with seeds. (Note: if you don’t do this
the fruit will rot!)

We are a fat church
o Use the example of Wembley Stadium – 22 players, some
reserves, referee, linesmen, trainers, coaches, managers and
80,000 watching them merely by cheering them on!
o In a similar vein, can use aeroplane with pilots, stewardesses etc
and many people as passengers.
Seek God for instructions
Has God given you a totally different way using you together, than when
he used you singly – have you a personal testimony here?
Deepen roots
Put roots a tree (already drawn on a whiteboard) to show how they need
to be there, and thicken them to show strength to hold up the tree as it
grows and spreads.
Don’t allow the enemy to separate you
Read portion from Selwyn Hughes book ‘Marriage as God Intended’ in the
foreword which describes the glow going from his marriage until he pit the
church and ministry matters after his relationship with God and his wife.
