one or two 30-minute class sessions
If you were to visit the deep sea to learn about the animals that live there, you’d be forced to learn
all you can during a series of quick visits. Something may swim by, or be attracted momentarily to
the lights on your submersible. When this happens, you’ll have only a few fleeting, but amazing,
moments to take in all you can about the creature before it disappears. During these times it’s
important that you have all your equipment ready and working, that you keep a sharp watch and
take detailed notes.
Your students can practice being biologists and hone their observation and studying skills in the
safety and convenience of your schoolyard or a nearby park.
